Peabo Bryson, 75, Receiving Medical Treatment Amid Ongoing Tour — Details
Peabo Bryson recently celebrated his birthday and promoted an ambitious tour schedule. Now, the Grammy-winning singer is receiving medical treatment after an unexpected health setback, according to his representative.
Just weeks after celebrating a major milestone with loved ones, Peabo Bryson is under medical care, according to a statement from his representative.
The update comes after recent public appearances in which the Grammy-winning singer appeared in good spirits as he reflected on his career and future plans.

Months before the health announcement, Bryson was looking ahead to a major professional milestone.
In an Instagram post shared in August 2025, the singer promoted "The Golden Touch Tour," a series of performances celebrating 50 years in music.
The tour schedule included dozens of dates across the United States and internationally, highlighting a performer who remained actively engaged with audiences decades into his career.
"2025 is a huge milestone for me as I celebrate 50 years in music!!" Bryson wrote. "Tickets are now available for my headline Tour, I can't wait to see Yall."
The announcement suggested Bryson had no plans to slow down as he marked a half-century in the music business. More recently, on April 13, 2026, Bryson shared a glimpse of a personal milestone.

In an Instagram post, the singer celebrated turning 75 surrounded by family and friends.
Photos from the gathering showed Bryson smiling beside large silver "75" balloons, posing with loved ones, and enjoying a custom birthday cake shaped like his age.
Other images captured him blowing out candles and spending time with relatives during the celebration. "This is 75!! Thank you for all my well wishes," he wrote.
Taken together, the recent posts painted a picture of a singer enjoying both personal and professional milestones. That is why the reason behind Bryson's current medical treatment may come as a surprise.
According to a statement provided to CBS News Atlanta on May 31, Bryson's representative said:
"Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer, Peabo Bryson — the voice behind the Oscar-winning Disney songs 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'A Whole New World' — has suffered a stroke and is currently under medical care."
The family has asked for privacy while Bryson undergoes treatment.

"At this time, the family requests privacy as they navigate this deeply personal moment together," the representative said. "The thoughts, prayers and love of friends and fans are welcomed and deeply appreciated."
The current health update echoes another difficult chapter in Bryson's life. In 2019, the singer was forced to postpone performances after suffering a medical emergency that led to a hospital stay.

Bryson's team first announced that the "Feel The Fire" singer suffered a mild heart attack at his home two days before and had been taken to a hospital.
"He is currently listed in stable condition and is awake and responsive. Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery," a rep statement read at the time.
In a later statement obtained by ESSENCE, the legendary singer's representative assured that he was in stable condition.
"We are happy to report that Double Grammy/Double Oscar Award-winning balladeer, Peabo Bryson, is on his way to making a full recovery!" the statement read.
It continued:
"Mr. Bryson is still listed in stable condition and is improving, rapidly. The family continues to request privacy, but extends their deepest gratitude and appreciation to friends and fans for the outpour of love and support expressed throughout this experience."
The representative also addressed Bryson's canceled May tour dates and disclosed that they had been rescheduled.
"Fans who have purchased tickets are encouraged to call local box offices for details and instructions," the spokesperson added.
The acclaimed singer took to Instagram shortly afterward to thank fans for their prayers and share a positive update on his condition.
"First of all, I have to say THANK YOU to all of you for coming together and praying for me!!!" Bryson wrote, alongside a video of him sitting upright in his hospital bed.
He added: "I know and understand that we have a choice in this world and when I needed everyone the most, everyone came to together and said a prayer for my health and for that... I THANK YOU with a full heart of love and my family THANK YOU too!! I'm getting stronger by the day!"
