Tina Lawson shares adorable throwback pic of daughter Solange, proving how much they look alike
Tina Lawson's latest throwback photo of herself and her daughter Solange Knowles is a reminder of how much they look alike and how precious her family is to her.
Despite her daughters Beyonce and Solange Knowles expressing despise over her social media presence, Tina Lawson continues to feed her followers with glimpses of her life and family. Last week, she shared a throwback photo of herself cuddling to a young Solange and it was clear the singer got her looks from her mom.
Last year, Tina revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that her daughters “hate” her social media posts. Her husband, Richard Lawson, who joined her in the interview explained.
"From time to time, she will do that foot-in-the-mouth thing, and it will be completely embarrassing...and then you'll get that phone call: 'Mom.''
“All the time,” Tina chimed in.
But despite her daughters’ feelings about her posts, Tina says her mistakes are all part of her being real. And she makes no apologies for that.
Thus, the family woman continues to share photos documenting her journey today after years of hiding while bringing up her girls and supporting their careers.
Her recent post pays tribute to that time when she was all about raising her children. She gushed about how much her daughter Solange looked like her twin in the throwback snap.
“My baby Solange lookin like my twin when i was youngroller set tight curls”
While Tina considers her musically-inclined children and their families as her greatest possessions, it was recently revealed that the 64-year-old also has a passion for collecting art. She opened the doors of her home to Vanity Fair in August to showcase her impressive collection of Black art. She said she made her first big purchase when she was only 19, an abstract painting she found at a furniture store. Though she now thinks that painting was just a reproduction, it began her romance with art and most especially those created by African American artists. Tina also proudly revealed her daughters who grew up surrounded by their mothers’ pieces became more aware of their culture because of it.
Today, her children have become successful artists as well, but they managed to use their mother’s art influence in their work. Solange recently debuted her Metatron’s Cube, an interdisciplinary performance project at Los Angeles’ Hammer Museum. Meanwhile, Beyonce's latest music video, “Apes***” with her husband Jay-Z was shot at the Louvre museum.
In the video, they breeze through famous works of art including the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. The couple also seemed to be imparting a strong message as they featured black men and women amid a sea of white art that dominated the French museum.
