He Pretended He Couldn't Find Lively During Super Bowl LVIII

While millions watched Super Bowl LVIII on February 11, 2024, Lively was impossible to miss. She was seated alongside Taylor Swift as they cheered on the Kansas City Chiefs, becoming one of the game's biggest celebrity talking points.

Reynolds, however, joked as though he had no idea where she was. Halfway through the game, he shared the newly released "#Deadpool" trailer on Instagram before adding, "Has everyone seen the #Deadpool trailer? Also has anyone seen my wife?"

Fans immediately filled the comments with GIFs and photos of Lively enjoying the game. A few days later, Lively delivered her own response by posting a photo of herself casually standing beside the same "Deadpool" trailer Reynolds had shared, making it clear she had, in fact, been found.

A Birthday Tribute Filled With Unflattering Photos

Birthday tributes between the pair rarely resemble traditional love posts. When Lively turned 32 in 2019, Reynolds celebrated by uploading a gallery of candid photos that most people would never choose for social media.

Many showed his wife smiling with her eyes closed while he stared directly into the camera. Instead of glamorous red-carpet shots, Reynolds leaned into awkward timing and unfiltered expressions, continuing a birthday tradition that fans had come to expect.

A Heartfelt Gift Ended With One Last Joke

Reynolds briefly appeared to set aside the jokes in August 2019 when he shared what he described as "the greatest present" Lively had ever given him. She had commissioned Los Angeles artist Danny Galieote to create a painting of Reynolds' childhood home in Vancouver.

The artwork included several deeply personal details, including references to his first newspaper delivery job for the Vancouver Sun and a tribute to his longtime idol, John Candy.

After explaining why the painting meant so much, Reynolds ended his heartfelt caption with one final punchline: "If there's ever a fire, I'm grabbing this first. I'll come back for Blake." The sentimental post quickly turned into another example of the couple's signature humor.

Lively Roasted Reynolds' Parenting Skills

While promoting "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu," Reynolds filmed a mock interview called "Outside the Actors Studio," where he joked about immersing himself completely in his acting roles.

He claimed that after learning he had landed the role, he became Detective Pikachu so completely that he forgot to pick up daughters James and Inez from school.

"I didn't show up at school because Detective Pikachu, he doesn't know who those two little girls are. Who are they?" Reynolds joked. Lively then appeared on camera to undercut the story. "They're our daughters. He just left them," she said.

When Reynolds continued by saying his children might never see their father again because he had become Detective Pikachu, Lively immediately delivered another punchline. "We're not going," she laughed after he encouraged audiences to see the film.

He Joked About Needing 'Me Time'

Celebrity gossip often fuels speculation, and one report claimed Reynolds and Lively were struggling to balance their busy careers. Rather than deny the story with a serious statement, Reynolds leaned into the joke. "I wish," he wrote on X.

The Birthday Post That Became an Instagram Classic

Reynolds may have set the standard for birthday trolling with his tribute to Lively in 2017. Rather than posting a photo centered on his wife, he shared an image from a red-carpet event where she had been almost entirely cropped out of the frame.

The caption simply read, "Happy Birthday to my amazing wife." The combination of the affectionate message and the deliberately edited photo quickly went viral and remains one of the couple's most iconic social media moments.

The Labor Room Playlist That Backfired

Reynolds has also admitted that not every joke lands. Speaking about one unforgettable hospital experience, he recalled deciding to play Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" while Lively was in labor.

According to the actor, the reaction was immediate. "It was like steak knives came out of her eyes," he recalled. He added that Lively looked at him and said, "She was like, 'Are you [expletive] kidding me?'" The prank didn't have quite the romantic effect he had imagined.

Lively Couldn't Believe He Chose Birthday Pie

When Reynolds celebrated his 44th birthday in 2020, he skipped the traditional birthday cake and chose pie instead — and Lively couldn't resist commenting.

"1) Who is the lost soul that selects birthday PIE. 2) What ANIMAL eats their cake (pie) without first blowing out the candles. @vancityreynolds that's who," she wrote on Instagram.

She ended the birthday message with another trademark joke: "Happy Birthday. I honestly can't believe we're still married."

She Introduced Reynolds as One of Her Fans

After attending a New York Yankees game together in May 2021, Lively shared several photos from the outing. But instead of highlighting their date night, she found another opportunity to tease her husband.

Alongside one smiling photo of the pair at Yankee Stadium, the actress wrote, "I love meeting fans." The simple caption became another fan-favorite example of the couple's playful dynamic.

Watching 'Deadpool' on a Plane Became an Awkward Experience

Lively brought her own brand of humor to "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2016 while recounting a memorable Father's Day. Rather than spending the day with Reynolds, she found herself on a flight with their daughter, James, where nearly every passenger seemed to be watching "Deadpool."

The actress described the experience as "torture," explaining that no matter where she looked, every screen featured her husband during the film's now-famous "sex montage throughout the holidays with another woman." It definitely wasn't exactly the Father's Day she had expected.

Reynolds Claimed Lively Stole His Spotlight

When Reynolds appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" in 2019, the host mentioned how the actor had successfully kept Lively's pregnancy private for months. The "Deadpool" star then jokingly insisted he had been the one deserving attention.

"Nobody was more surprised than me, Jimmy," he said before adding that he believed everyone would be talking about the denim vest he wore to the "Pokémon: Detective Pikachu" premiere.

"But then Blake shows up — uninvited, might I add — and I thought she was just pounding beer, but it turns out she's like six months pregnant. I've gotta start being more hands-on at home," he said to a laughing audience.

A Father's Day Tribute With a Perfect Punchline

For Reynolds' first Father's Day as a dad, Lively shared what initially sounded like an emotional tribute. Then she delivered the punchline. "Since the day our baby was born, I've felt so strongly in my heart that you were most likely the father," she joked.

'#NoFilter'

In 2019, Lively was photographed on the set of "The Rhythm Section" wearing makeup designed to make her look exhausted and worn down for the role — and Reynolds couldn't resist.

Sharing one of the images on Instagram, he simply captioned it, "#NoFilter." The minimalist joke perfectly summed up the couple's style: quick, playful, and always delivered with impeccable timing.
