When looking for a place to have a cat fight, it is always best to find a location that will not only be in the way of other people, but also highly entertaining for them to watch while they wait.

Sarah Verney was driving down a forest road near Kokadjo, Maine, with some friends when they witnessed something very rare. There, half in the road, were two lynxes, apparently having some serious words with one another.

Verney immediately decided to record the incredible encounter, but was even more surprised when she rolled down her window and heard the noises they were making.

As much as lynxes may be wild animals forming part of the big cat family, their cries certainly aren't terror inducing by any means.

The two cats seemed to be having a standoff, most likely over territory or the ladies in the area.

“This is rare sighting of a stand off between two lynx that I was lucky enough to see with my own eyes! Once in a life time for sure,” Verney said of the incredible sighting.

For the most part, the two lynxes appeared to be fighting it out only with their words (or, more likely, insults), but there was a brief moment where the claws seemed to be about to come out before they regressed to a battle of words.

Maine is believed to be the only state in the US that is actually home to a breeding population of lynxes, with about 1000 of the cats calling the state home.

The video footage of the sighting was later shared to YouTube, where it has since been viewed over three million times.
