HOW IT ALL STARTED
According to an anonymous source, the attack resulted from an altercation inside an overnight child care business that was run out of a home.
The violent outcome unfolded shortly before 4 a.m., when the suspect, who worked a the Flushing neighborhood's facility, attacked a co-worker in her torso.
OUT OF CONTROL
She then went after the babies and managed to hurt three of them, including an infant that was only months old.
The father of one of the young victims tried to stop the attacker but ended up being stabbed in the leg during the confrontation.
TRACKED AND HANDCUFFED
The New York Police Department was able to locate the female suspect, who hid in the basement, and she was also transported to the hospital.
According to the police, she was treated for several stab wounds on one of her wrists, which they believed to have been self-inflicted.
POSSIBLE CHARGES
So far, no charges have been filed against the 52-year-old, but authorities suspect that the daycare business was unlicensed, which will add to her charges.
Violence against children seems to be growing at an alarming rate; recently, Chris Watts, from Colorado, was accused of murdering his pregnant wife and two daughters after a rage attack.
BLIND RAGE
The murderer hid the bodies within an oil extraction site belonging to Anadarko Petroleum company, but police managed to find the bodies with the help of K-9 units.
Watts now faces nine criminal charges, including murder in the first degree, and may face the death penalty or life in jail.
