Judges in complete disbelief as they realize it's a contestant's voice and not a MJ recording
It happened on the Romanian version of the music competition franchise "The Voice." The video of Bogdan Idan singing just like the late King of Pop and baffling the judges quickly became viral.
Bogdan Idan, a contestant in "The Voice Romania" who performed Michael Jackson's “Earth Song,” shocked the reality’s judges with a voice that sounds almost exactly to that of the legendary singer.
The video of the outstanding performance was shared on Facebook for the entire world to watch, and in no time it was a new viral sensation, being played more than 31 million times. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa
In the clip, we can see how it only takes a couple seconds for this gifted singer to impress all the judges enough to make them hit the red button and turn their seats around to put a face to the incredible voice they were hearing.
It’s like they couldn’t wait to confirm that it was, in fact, a contestant singing like that and not a recording of Michael Jackson’s voice. Needless to say, the audience was petrified by what they were witnessing.
“His voice is amazing. My eyes are in tears each time I hear this emotional song. [He brought] a legend back with this performance. Best for him.”
-Karolina Zielinska, Facebook, September 2018.
Most comments praised Bogdan for the impressive similarities his performance sometimes bears to the original recording. But other social media users considered that copying the sound of another artist is missing the point of the competition.
“If I may say so, the point of this reality is to find someone with a unique voice, not an imitation of another known voice,” Gabriel Guarin wrote in the comments section of the Facebook post.
Whether he should be considered a singer on his own right or merely an imitator, we can’t help but be fascinated by the way he manages to sing so much alike to one of the greatest voices of the music industry.
When someone has such a remarkable talent, not much time is needed to recognize that we are listening to something special.
And as much as the judges of singing competitions are used to discovering new talents, there is always a chance for them to be surprised with breathtaking performances.
It happens everywhere. Very much like what happened to Bogdan, a contestant of “The Voice: Holland” only needed to sing five words to give the judges of the show the surprise of their lives.
36-year-old Amsterdam actor Charlie Luske chose to sing James Brown’s hit “A Mans World” for his blind audition, and his incredible rendition of the classic song secured him a place in the competition.
