Devastated dad shares heartbreaking final photo of little girl before she died
A brave father is posting his latest picture with his daughter on electronic billboards around Birmingham, UK and the reason is really moving.
As reported by Birmingham Live, Khadijah Araf was born with a complex heart disease and died of septic shock in May, a few days before her third birthday.
Khadijah's father, Sunny, had his last photo published in billboards on Monday, October 15 to thank the Children's Hospital of Birmingham.
He wanted to make the October 15th a national day of appreciation to celebrate the wonderful work done by the National Health Service. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa.
Sunny, an ex-police officer who runs a security and logistics company described what happened to her young daughter and why he has been on a mission to help others since her birth.
THE LITTLE BOY WAS BORN WITH A HEART DEFECT
According to the man, while his wife was pregnant the ultrasound showed the baby had a hole in her heart, so she had to be taken to the Children's Hospital of Birmingham as soon as she was born.
When she was only a few months old, the girl had her first open heart surgery and had to undergo five more other surgeries. One of these, which was also open-hearted, lasted 11 hours. The family practically lived in the hospital for three or four months in a row.
Once they returned home, Khadijah developed another infection and returned to the hospital. But her father stressed that the hospital staff was amazing with them.
THE WORKERS DID AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO HELP THEM
From cleaners and service providers to nurses, doctors, and surgeons, they all went out of their way to help the family in the most difficult times.
Last May, they spent a nice day at Cannon Hill Park and the little girl did not seem well when they got home, so her parents took her to the hospital.
There, doctors thought it was a virus and released her, but the next day Sunny's wife, Nida, sensed something was wrong and decided to take her back to the hospital.
When they arrived at the medical center for the second time, the doctors started pumping her with fluids and antibiotics, but she finally lost the battle.
HER LEGACY
However, she did not lose the battle because of her heart condition, but because of septic shock. Therefore, now Sunny wants to help other children like Khadijah.
He started a foundation to help other families go through difficult times like them and became an ambassador for a project that offers free surgery to children.
The decision to project his last picture with Khadijah on the billboards was to thank all the amazing workers who helped them for three years.
Sunny said that at the time he could not thank them enough and he wants to raise awareness about the incredible work they do.
Another story that moved us was that of an Arkansas father, who shared a picture of his son comforting his sister who was dying.
The girl, named Adalynn was diagnosed with a type of brain tumor and in the viral photo her brother appeared saying "goodbye to her best friend".
As reported by CBS Chicago, the photo went viral and even attracted the attention of the media, as well as thousands of users around the world.
This reminds us of the story of a group of neighbors of a two-year-old boy in Ohio that put up their Christmas decorations early this year for the toddler, who only has a month to live.
After spending 98 days in the hospital, the boy’s parents were told that he only had two months to live. They were devastated, and there was a constant feeling of uncertainty when they were going to lose him. Since then, the family decided to dedicate their time to make him happy.
