Elderly woman calls police on Hispanic mom sitting in car with her baby in viral video
A woman called the cops to report that a baby was alone in a car and the sun was hitting her face, but the Hispanic mother of the child was in the car and with the A/C running.
Darla Jeny and her family made a quick stop at a PetSmart on Riverside County, California, and while her husband went into the store with their 6-year-old, Jeny, 32, stayed in the car with their 2-year-old.

A senior woman approached the car and knocked on Jeny’s window to inform her the sun was hitting her daughter’s face. She also threatened to call the cops if the mother didn’t move her car. But knowing that her husband would be out in a few minutes, Jeny told the woman to mind her own business.
THE CONFRONTATION
That’s when the white lady decided to call the cops and Jeny started recording the video that has earned over 247k views on Facebook. The clip begins with the unidentified woman telling Jeny that she was calling the police “because you told me it was ‘None of your business' that your child is in pain.”

Angered and frustrated, Darla replies, “but she’s is not in pain, she’s sleeping in her car seat.” The woman then starts talking to the cops, explaining that there was a kid inside of a hot car and that was left alone.
“I’m in the car with her!” Jeny screams.
“No, you’re not, you’re out here yelling at me," the woman responded.

The woman then puts her call with the cops on hold as she explains the father of the kid is back, as Jeny’s husband made his way to the car. Confused by the commotion, the man asks Jeny to explain what’s wrong, and she proceeds to recount the last minutes.
THE FATHER INTERVENES
Parking Lot Barbara, as the netizens have dubbed the elderly woman, then focuses her attention on the man, which prompts Jeny to say “Oh, because he’s white? Because he’s white, it’s OK because he’s here now?" and the lady fires back “No, because he’s acting sane—you’re screaming at me."

The father makes the woman admitted to her mistake, but she keeps insisting that Jeny was “nasty” and that’s why she called the cops. She even accuses the mother of threatening her, and as she makes her way to her car, she throws some harsh words Jeny’s way, saying:
“You deserve that child to be injured. And you probably do injure it. Look at you.”

“It was never about the safety of my child. It was about the fact that I didn't comply with her demands to move my car,” wrote Jeny on a Facebook post. And continued:
“It was never about [the] safety of my child. The end of the video confirms that. She then hit me with her car door.”
PEOPLE'S REACTIONS
Most netizens are calling the senior racist, stating that, if the mother was white, the conversation would probably go down differently. They support this argument by pointing out the change on the woman’s demeanor as soon as she saw the father of the kid was white.
The video was reuploaded to Twitter, and these are some of the replies people left:
FOLLOWING THAT NOTE...
This reminds us of a recent case where a white security guard and a black customer got into a heated argument that escalated to violence quickly at a restaurant in Buffalo.
While the reason of the argument is unknown, a video of the incident recorded by another customer shows how both men get involved in a verbal discussion and soon after the security guard pushes the black man to the ground using his force. This angers the man, but he refrains from growing the first punch until the guard slaps his face and they start throwing fists.

Soon after, a police officer arrives at the scene, and without even asking questions, he handcuffs the black guy.
However, the story had a plot twist and now the man, known as Mingo, will be starting a civil rights lawsuit against the city, including the police officers that arrested him. Read more here.
