Meghan and Kate turn heads in matching updos and diamond earrings at Prince Charles’ birthday

The Duchesses of Sussex and Cambridge went all out for Prince Charles's 70th birthday.

The party was held at Buckingham Palace and hosted by Queen Elizabeth II. Several members of Charles's immediate family attended.

Catherine stepped out in a pink one-shoulder dress with ruffle detail while her hair was swept up to show off her diamond drop earrings.

Meghan also had her hair styled in an updo, with dangling diamond earrings. It's not yet confirmed which designer dress she wore, but it was black with white stitching.

The newly-wed Prince Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank also attend the intimate family affair, along with her sister, Beatrice.

The Earl of Snowden David Armstrong‑Jones II, as well as Henri, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, his wife, Duchess Maria Teresa were also in attendance.

Lady Helen Taylor, of course, was also invited, along with British author Santa Montefiore.

After the party, Prince Charles was asked by reporters what if feels like to turn 70. He responded:

“I’m not sure. It’s rather like indigestion. ‘Many Happy Returns’ are not quite the same as you get older.”

The media also loved the fact that Meghan and Catherine appear to have a close relationship, and that Catherine reportedly helped her settle into life as a royal.

They were also spotted together at Wimbledon. In turn, it is said that Meghan and Harry's display of public affection have influenced the way Prince William and Catherine show affection in public.

They appear more comfortable around each other these days, with Prince William lovingly placing his hand on Catherine's back, or Catherine placing her hand on his knee.

Prince Harry is often spotted placing his hand on the small of Meghan's back, and there are thousands of words have been written about the adoring way Meghan looks at Prince Harry.

It has always been clear that Prince William and Catherine have a deep and mutual love towards the other, but they don't often put that on display for the world.

Royal protocol plays a huge part in what is allowed when appearing in public in an official capacity, but it would appear as those unwritten rules are finally slackening a bit.
