A political expert says two sensitive topics were deliberately avoided during Donald Trump's interactions with King Charles III in the United States. Her remarks reveal how diplomacy shaped the high-profile visit.

During King Charles III’s visit to the United States alongside Queen Camilla, a high-profile meeting with President Donald Trump drew attention for what was left unsaid.

As the visit emphasized symbolism and diplomacy, some topics were deliberately avoided, according to a political analyst.

Inside the King's Visit to America

During a discussion on Sky News' "The World with Yalda Hakim," political analyst Hilary Rosen spoke with anchor Yalda Hakim about the king's visit to the US.

Yalda framed the trip as a "key moment," noting that every detail — from gifts to clothing — was designed to send a message. Hilary agreed, explaining that the royal family is highly skilled at using symbolism during public appearances.

Hilary said the king's remarks about thinking daily about the U.S. stood out, adding that Americans are often more inward-looking, while people in the UK tend to be more globally focused, based on her experience living in London.

Hilary said the visit aimed to reinforce long-standing ties between the two countries.

"And so if the king's visit sort of opens people's eyes to the history of our country and the history of the relationship, you know, that's all a plus. And if it gets Donald Trump to behave for a couple of days, you know, that's even better," she said.

The focus on diplomacy also shaped what was left unaddressed.

Sensitive Topics Avoided in Talks

Yalda highlighted a striking detail during Charles's visit to the United States — he made no mention of Prince Harry, who lives in the country. Hilary told the news anchor:

"It's striking, isn't it? You know, imagine parents going to a country where your children live and nobody mentions it. Nobody talks about it...'Oh, you're going to see your kid? No.'"

She added that the situation between the king and the Duke of Sussex likely carried personal weight. "So, I think that is a... it must be personally awkward. It has to be, and I feel for the king on that point," Hilary said.

Hilary indicated that the lack of any mention of Harry during the visit may have been intentional, with some topics understood to be off topic.

She explained, "You know, certain issues were off topic. Off limits for both Donald Trump and the king. Jeffrey Epstein was off limits. You know, probably Prince Harry's off limits."

Hilary explained that avoiding sensitive issues allows leaders to focus on shared interests. "That's kind of the nature of diplomacy, isn't it? You sort of find the common ground," she said on the show.

The mention of Jeffrey also brings renewed attention to the recent arrest of Charles's brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

A 66th Birthday Marked by Arrest and Investigation

As reported in February 2026, Andrew, 66, was detained on suspicion of misconduct in public office following what authorities described as a thorough assessment of the allegation. The investigation at the time was active.

Earlier in the day, vehicles believed to be unmarked police cars were spotted at Sandringham, Norfolk, where Andrew had been residing since leaving his 30-room mansion, Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park. Searches were also carried out at addresses in Berkshire.

In an official statement, Thames Valley Police did not identify him by name, instead stating that a man in his 60s had been arrested.

The force said, "We will not be naming the arrested man, as per national guidance. Please also remember that this case is now active, so care should be taken with any publication to avoid being in contempt of court."

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright added, "Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office. It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence."

Oliver acknowledged the high level of public attention surrounding the matter and said further updates would be shared when appropriate.

A Royal First in Modern Times

This marks the first time Andrew has been arrested. In the past, he has faced numerous allegations linked to his association with Jeffrey, a convicted sex offender, all of which he has consistently and strenuously denied.

Still, Andrew has become the first senior member of the royal family in modern times to be taken into custody. Previously, Thames Valley Police confirmed it was examining claims that Jeffrey trafficked a woman to the UK for a sexual encounter involving Andrew.

Investigators were also looking into allegations that, during his tenure as the UK's trade envoy, he may have passed sensitive information to the convicted pedophile.

His detention also comes shortly after the Metropolitan Police announced that it had begun "initial inquiries" connected to allegations concerning close protection officers who were once assigned to Andrew.

In a statement, they said it had "not identified any wrongdoing" but noted that "initial enquiries into these specific allegations have begun so we can establish the facts."

Stripped of Titles, Erased from Royal Record

In October 2025, Charles formally removed Andrew from his remaining royal roles and distinctions. He was stripped of his titles, styles, and honorary positions, meaning he is no longer recognized as a Prince or the Duke of York.

He also lost the use of his HRH style, effectively leaving him with the status of a private citizen. Despite these changes, Andrew remains eighth in line to the throne.

Charles also ordered that two of Andrew's senior honors be revoked. His appointment as a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, awarded in April 2006, was cancelled and his name removed from the Order's register.

Additionally, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's position as a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, granted in February 2011, was annulled, with his name also erased from the official records of the Order.
