Man was upset when his rich boss ignored him

An internet user named Marie K. shared an inspirational story that revealed how far the kindness of one person can go a long way. The story is of a poor watchman and his boss.

The watchman was a hard worker who went out of his way to acknowledge his boss but he never got any recognition… or so he thought.

A watchman told a story of how his boss was a rich man who drove a luxury car every day. The watchman’s duty was to greet the boss and open the gates to the villa.

However, the boss never responded back to his employee’s greetings. One day, the boss came across the watchman outside the villa going through garbage bags for any leftover food.

The next day the watchman came across a paper bag at the same place he was rummaging the previous day. However, this bag was clean and the fresh food inside was covered well.

It seemed to have been bought from the supermarket. The watchman didn’t ask any questions but thanked his lucky stars and happily took the bag.

Finding the paper bag at the same place with fresh vegetables and all the food became a daily thing. The employee was eating well and he had enough to share with his wife and children.

At times, the watchman would wonder who the person was who’d leave the food, but he never really entertained the thought further. One day, he came to work and found out that his boss had died.

The villa had many guests arriving that day and the employee didn’t find the bag of food. He thought one of the guests must’ve taken it but the bag wasn’t there from henceforth.

A few weeks went by and the watchman realized that he couldn’t provide food for his family. He decided to go to his boss’s wife and ask for a raise or else he would quit.

The wife didn’t the demand well and asked him why he’d never complained about his salary for the last 2 years. He tried to give her different excuses but she just didn’t believe him.

Eventually, he decided to tell her the truth about the bag of groceries and how it had been his daily provision. She counteracted by asking him when the mystery bags stopped appearing and he confessed that it was after her husband died.

At that moment he realized that the paper bags had immediately stopped appearing after his death. The watchman finally awoke to the fact that the same boss who never greeted him back was the one who was feeding him and his family.

The boss’s wife started to cry. The employee thought he’d messed up and apologized for asking for a raise and begged her to stop crying.

He even promised to keep working with no raise. However, she responded:

“I’m crying because I’ve finally found the 7th person my husband was giving this bag full of food. I knew my husband was giving to 7 people everyday, I had already found the 6 people, and all these days I was searching for the 7th person. And today I found out.”

Going forward, the watchman started receiving the bag full of food again, but this time the boss’s son was bringing it to his house and handing it over. However, strange enough, whenever the employee thanked him, he never replied just like his father before him.

One day, the watchman bravely shouted “Thank You!” to the son after he got his bag. The son replied by asking to not be offended when he didn’t answer because he had a hearing problem, just like his father!
