Grieving Edward James Olmos shares news about his mother's death with a heartbreaking tribute

The 71-year-old American actor and director took to social media a couple of days following his mother’s passing, and his fans and colleagues replied with heartfelt words of condolence for his lost.

Edward James Olmos revealed that his 92-year-old beloved mother had died a week prior to his November 20 tweet, on which he featured a picture of himself side hugging the late Eleanor as both smiled to the camera.

“It’s taken me seven days to post this photo with this tweet because my heart hurt…” the “Mayas M.C.” star began his touching tribute to the woman who gave him his life. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa

Olmos has built himself a name in Hollywood with several supporting roles in a career spanning 50 years, and he has received an Emmy and a Golden Globe, as well as an Academy Award nomination in 1988.

Following his sharing the sad news, many of his friends, followers, and co-workers dedicated supportive messages to the “Blade Runner” star in reply to his publication.

“My condolences Eddie… sending u all the love and blessings for ur loss. Just spent the day with my 91-year-old mom… every Tuesday when I’m here at home. I feel ur loss hermano,” wrote his co-star Raoul Max Trujillo.

Danny Pino, who also works in the “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off where Olmos plays the character Felipe Reyes, wrote loving words in Spanish to his colleague and friend.

“Wishing you relief and sending you love and a big hug, my friend. From the Pino [Pinetrees] to the Olmos [Elms],” tweeted the actor.

Before news of Olmos’ mother’s passing broke, the “Selena” star was “killed” by an Internet death hoax, raising concerns among his numerous fans.

“He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet, said Olmos’ representatives on November 21, denying the rumors.

Recently, the daughter of a high-profile late politician also took to social media to pay tribute to her father by sharing a picture from his grave.

On October 14, Meghan McCain, daughter of late Senator John McCain, who died in August at 81, took to her Instagram account to reveal how much she misses him and how Sundays are when she most feels his absence.

Her post, which features an image from the former US presidential candidate and war hero, has been liked by more than 43.000 people and has received many affectionate comments.
