The Former President was in Chicago to attend the 2018 Summit of his Obama Foundation and dropped in to lend a helping hand.

"We believe no one should go hungry, especially this time of year, and that's why we're working to address the root causes of hunger in Chicago and Cook County."

The former President continued a tradition that started in 2015 when he and his family spent the day before Thanksgiving serving dinner to homeless people and veterans at the Friendship Place Homeless Center in Washington.

This time, Obama visited Chicago Food Depository accompanied by staff members from his Obama Foundation and rolled up his sleeves and joined in and prepared bags of food for the less fortunate.

Obama came to the Depository to donate food, but he stayed on as a volunteer and thrilled several small girls who were sorting and packing potatoes by donning gloves and working next to them.

"Hey, how's it going? This is a spiffy-looking spot right here."

Obama was committed to combating world hunger throughout his mandate as President of the United States, and his administration pledged $3.5 billion over three years to a Feed the Future initiative, which works to promote agricultural knowledge in vulnerable areas of the globe.

Obama who lives in Washington was in Chicago for a summit of his Obama Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 2014.

The Foundation oversees the creation of the Barack Obama Presidential Center, and the Obama Presidential Library, and runs, the "My Brother's Keeper Alliance".

This is a program dedicated to mentoring and providing support to boys and young men of color, through mentoring, education, job training, and sports activities. The Foundation also administers a scholarship program through the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy.

Former President Barack Obama appealed to all Americans to help each other, and be supportive of those less unfortunate during Thanksgiving.

Michelle Obama got a romantic treat when her husband, former President Barack Obama, popped by her book tour with a bouquet of pink flowers in hand.

The former First Lady is on tour promoting her memoir "Belonging," which was published by Crown, and launched on November 13, 2018 to general acclaim.

“This is like — you know when Jay-Z comes out during the Beyoncé concert? Like, ‘Crazy in Love’?”

Barack quipped that he was acting like Jay-Z when the singer shows up at his wife's Beyoncé's concerts for a surprise visit. Michelle is a dedicated fan of Beyoncé and never misses a concert, even going to Paris in the Summer to attend one of the singer's performances.

In her memoir, Michelle revealed the she and Barack had once consulted a marriage counselor. She explained that her revelation was to show people that it is necessary to seek help and that problems in a marriage are normal:

“If you’re in a marriage and there are times you want to leave, that’s normal — because I felt that way.”

The problems seem to be a thing of the distant past, and the former presidential couple has confessed to having rediscovered romance now that their oldest daughter Malia has gone to college, and Sasha is too busy at high school to pay attention to her parents.
