A woman shared her experience of having a close encounter with an alligator in her own backyard to her social media account.

Nicole Mojica recorded a video of her 6-year-old son, Timmy, playing with an inflatable toy alligator on a waterslide in her garden.

However, she never imagined that a real one might be lurking somewhere close. The alligator is not immediately obvious in the footage.

Even viewers may require up to second or even third viewing to spot the animal, even knowing of its presence.

The video uploaded on Facebook ends before Mojica or her son realize that the alligator was close by. Nicole confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident.

In the footage, the alligator can only be seen when her son moves back away from the slide, readying himself for a run-up with his inflatable alligator.

The little boy stood in front of a law chair preparing for the run-up, while the very real danger can be seen just behind the chair on the other side, with half its body ahead of the wall.

Without realizing what was so near her son, Mojica kept encouraging her son to take a running leap onto the slide with his toy alligator.

Mojica told reporters that she does not allow her children to play in the backyard before she had done her regular "gator checks."

However, on that day, the alligator had managed to sneak into the playground without her noticing anything suspicious after they had already gone into the garden.

"Then I saw the brown chair move. Oh my God. Never would I expect one so close to us. They say they are afraid. Well, he wasn't. And he went down the slip n' slide and into the pond."

The source also reported that May and June are the typical mating season for alligators and they might be out more frequently during this time, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

It was further reported that sighting of an alligator in a neighborhood might suggest that the animal has lost its natural fear of humans.
