What looked like just another chaotic moment on tour for the artist suddenly took a far more serious turn. And as the singer began posting updates, the story only got more intense and very on-brand for a rock tour gone off the rails.

The Pretty Reckless Frontwoman, Taylor Momsen, who has built a reputation for handling onstage mayhem with a cool head, first let fans in on the drama through a series of social media updates from Mexico.

At first glance, it seemed like one more backstage mishap during the band's run with AC/DC, but the details kept escalating.

A Tour Stop That Took a Very Unexpected Turn

Momsen, the actress-turned-rocker best known for leading The Pretty Reckless after her early screen career, has never exactly had a boring life.

Per her IMDb bio, she first found fame as a child star, mostly known as playing Cindy Lou Who from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," and then Jenny Humphrey from "Gossip Girl," before evolving into one of rock's most recognizable frontwomen.

And the current tour with AC/DC clearly means a lot to her. In a January 2026 interview with Louder Sound, Momsen revealed that The Pretty Reckless actually paused studio work after getting the chance to be AC/DC's only support act — a call she made clear was simply too huge to refuse.

"We had just finished touring the 'Death By Rock And Roll' album and my manager called me up. He said, 'So you don't want to tour, you're going back in the studio?' I said, 'Yes, only call me if it's AC/DC or the Rolling Stones,'" Momsen divulged.

She continued, "A week in, the phone rings, and it's my agent saying AC/DC called. WHAT?! [...] So we cancelled the recording, because there are some things you just don't say no to!"

That's what makes what happened next feel even more intense. In one update, Momsen appeared backstage while a doctor treated her leg, with medical supplies spread out nearby as she tried to keep the moment light.

In the Instagram Reel, Momsen could be heard joking, "When do my superpowers kick in? That's what I wanna know," while the doctor explained what he was doing in Spanish. The clip also showed her getting a shot in the arm, before ending with a close-up of a red mark on her leg as the original "Spider-Man" theme played over the video.

Even then, she was still clearly trying to laugh it off. Her caption struck a half-amused, half-shocked tone, explaining:

"🕷️🕷️🕷️So it wouldn't be an AC/DC tour if I didn't get bit…this time a massive spider decided to take a chunk out of me and its venom did a number on my system so had to have the wonderful doctors in Mexico come and deliver quite the shot before the show last night…add it to the list! Spider woman? Batgirl? [...]😬 [sic]."

That was the first real clue that this wasn't just an unfortunate bug bite, as Momsen revealed that she had been bitten by a poisonous spider while on tour in Mexico.

What Started as a Tour Mishap Quickly Escalated

From there, the situation became visibly more serious. In a follow-up Instagram post, she shared a photo of her leg looking badly inflamed and infected while updating fans from the hospital.

If the backstage Reel felt chaotic, this post made it clear the aftermath was no joke. "Hospital today, show tomorrow, poisonous spiders are NO BUENO 🕷️🕷️," she wrote, adding, "but the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City! 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽⚡️⚡️⚡️."

That line really says everything about Momsen's attitude. Even with her leg inflamed and discolored, she was still talking about the next show — a very rock-star response, yes, but also one that made the whole ordeal feel even more intense.

Then came the most unsettling update of all. In another Instagram post, Momsen shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed wearing a mask and holding an ice pack to her forehead, along with a video that showed her being wheeled through the medical facility as marked-up treatment lines were visible on her leg.

Her caption was short, but it said plenty: "Or I just spend the night in the hospital…thank you to the amazing doctors who, well, they know ❤️❤️❤️ 🕷️🕷️🕷️👎👎👎."

Why This Story Feels Strangely Familiar

And if fans had a sense of déjà vu, there was a reason for that. As Variety pointed out, Momsen's spider bite came two years after she was bitten by a bat while — unbelievably — also touring with AC/DC.

Yes, really. In May 2024, Momsen made headlines after a bat latched onto her leg during a performance in Sevilla, Spain, a moment later reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

According to that report, the singer said the bat flew onto her and clung to her leg while she was performing "Witches Burn." She explained that she didn't even realize what was happening at first because she was so focused on the performance, only noticing when the crowd began screaming and pointing.

There is also video footage of the onstage moment. In the clip, she addressed the crowd with slight shock but remarkable calm, proving that her ability to stay collected during utter chaos is, at this point, basically legendary.

Back then, she revealed she needed two weeks of rabies shots afterward. She also joked about being dubbed #batgirl — a nickname that suddenly feels very relevant again after her latest post jokingly floated "Spider woman? Batgirl?"

There is something almost surreal about the pattern here: Two separate animal-related medical scares, two different countries, two different years, and both somehow unfolding while on the road with the same iconic band.

Of course, what makes this story stick is not just the bizarre bad luck; it's the image of Momsen sitting backstage getting treated, then landing in the hospital, and still posting that the show must go on.

That's the real tabloid-level twist here: behind the humor, the superhero jokes, and the very Momsen captions, the photos document a performer trying to push through a frightening health scare in real time. And fans ended up watching the story unfold one post at a time — from backstage treatment to infected leg to overnight hospital stay.

Whether you call it bad luck or just another chapter in rock-tour folklore, this latest incident is definitely one for the books.

Because getting hospitalized after a poisonous spider bite while opening for AC/DC is the kind of headline that sounds almost made up — until the photos prove otherwise.

And for Taylor Momsen, it seems the road to the next show can apparently include anything: bats, spiders, hospital beds, injections, and somehow still a punchline. Only she could turn a medical emergency into a rock-and-roll cliffhanger, and still leave fans wondering what could possibly happen next.
