Gabrielle Union's husband gets harshly criticized for kissing their baby girl on lips in pic

Instagram users wasted no time slamming Gabrielle Union's husband for kissing their newborn baby girl on the lips. The criticism comes after Gabrielle posted a pic, shown below, of the new dad with his daughter on Instagram.

Kaavia James Union Wade was recently born to Gabrielle Union and complete Dwayne Wade. The couple has been super open about their parenting and Gabrielle has treated fans to a slew of pics and videos of the gorgeous baby.

While fans have spent most of their time pouring over the precious newborn, her recent posts have raised concern.

The 46-year-old posted an uber adorable pic to Instagram on Tuesday. In the photo, Wade is seen kissing their newborn daughter on the lips.

Kaavia gazes up at her basketball star daddy while he lovingly plants a kiss on her lips with his eyes closed. Union captioned the post, “@dwyanewade & @kaaviajames = My #MCM & My #ShadyBaby … Kaav is like 'trust ain’t my strong suit… close your eyes if you want to.' "

While many fans praised the sweet moment. Some were quick to point out the dangers of kissing a baby on the mouth.

“Don’t kiss that baby on the mouth… Newborns can’t deal with sickness because of their immune system,” wrote one user

Many users pointed out that due to a baby's immune system still developing and our mouths containing many germs, kissing a baby on the lips could prove dangerous. By kissing a baby on the lips one can pass the Herpes Simplex Virus to them.

While the virus is relatively harmless to adults and usually only causes fever blisters, it can be fatal to babies. There have been reported cases of the virus causing meningitis in babies.

“The first two months after a child is born are very critical, as a virus can rapidly spread and cause serious illness in newborns,” said Dr. Tanya Altmann, a pediatrician at Calabasas Pediatrics

Wade is not the first celeb dad to come under fire. David Beckham was also recently dragged after he posted a picture of himself kissing his daughter, Harper, on the lips.

However, some fans immediately jumped to his defense and told the haters off. One said, "If anyone sees anything other than a little girl who loves her dad in this picture it says more about the state of their mind than anything else."
