The 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush died in his home on Friday at the age of 94.

He left behind a grieving family led by his son and White House successor, George W. Bush. In a social media post, the younger Bush expressed his sadness and was equally grateful for his father’s “remarkable years.”

SUFFERING AFTER HIS WIFE'S DEATH

George H.W. passed away just eight months after his wife, Barbara Pierce Bush died on April 17. Her death seemed to weaken him because he was admitted to the hospital just a day after Barbara’s funeral due to a blood infection.

A month later, he was hospitalized again due to low blood pressure and fatigue.

George H.W. had been married to Barbara for 73 years at the time of her death. They shared six children – George W., Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Dorothy and Robin who died of leukemia at the age of three in 1953.

“George H. W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for."

George H.W. will be laid to rest on December 5, which was also designated as a day of national mourning by the White House whose flag is currently lowered at half-staff.
