Steve Harvey appears with a brand new look, changing his mustache style
61-year-old comedian and TV host Steve Harvey has opened up about his change of look during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show, and he said his wife encouraged him to keep his new style.
The “Family Feud” host has been spotted donning a different look to that for which has been known for years, and after his fans have reacted in mixed ways in social media, he has addressed the subject in a talk with 60-year-old Ellen DeGeneres.
It has been months since Harvey left his distinct, thick black mustache behind, and he is learning the hard way how shocking a simple change in one’s facial hair can be to the millions of people who have seen him in television for decades.
DeGeneres is known for asking the most daring questions, so it was no problem for her to make Harvey finally shed some light about what is behind this decision. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa
DeGeneres started by complimenting her guest’s renewed appearance, before getting to the point of asking him what was the image change all about.
“You’re looking good! Look at you, you changed your whole look. Was it in purpose?” she asked, and Harvey was happy to share the story behind his new gray beard with the entire world.
“You know, there’s some haters. Haters always, Instagram they just stay on there. I don’t know what they do. They don’t like nothin’!”
“Kinda like that. I was on vacation and I actually left my Just For Men [hair dye] at home ’cause I had been dyeing my mustache, you know, black. So I was on vacation so I didn’t dye it and the rest of it started growing in,” he explained.
“The next thing I knew, I went, ‘Damn! This is either going to be sexy or I’m ugly as hell!”

Harvey probably would have kept the look only for as long as his vacation lasted, but it was his 54-year-old wife Marjorie who suggested he continue with the newfound style.
When DeGeneres asked him if he knew about people who disliked his new appearance, Harvey mentioned the “haters” on social media, who will find something to criticize in everything a famous person does.
“You know, there’s some haters. Haters always, Instagram they just stay on there. I don’t know what they do. They don’t like nothin’!” Harvey said.
“One dude said ‘You look old. I said, ‘Wait a minute. I’ve been living more than half a century, plus a decade, plus two more damn years. Dawg, I am old!'” he added.
At one point of the interview, DeGeneres couldn’t resist making a joke at the expense of Harvey’s beard, though.
She was asking him about his many jobs when she suggested that he also worked as Santa at the mall on weekends, making him crack with laughter.
It is true that the TV host is pretty busy with the many shows he is in, and as a true workaholic, he will be busy on one very special night, the last one of the year, as Fox recently announced that Harvey will return to cover the Times Square countdown to 2019 in New York for the second year, co-hosting with Maria Menounos.
