In 1983, 35 years ago, the cult holiday film “A Christmas Story” was released. While the film has become a family favorite, the actors are almost unrecognizable now.
“A Christmas Story” centers around the character of Ralphie Parker, who is portrayed by Peter Billingsley.
The film caused many things to become iconic; including pink bunny suits, leg lamps, and a Red Ryder carbine action BB gun.

AGING ACTORS
Thirty-five years has made quite a difference in most cast members’ appearance. The lead actor, Peter Billingsley, was only 12 years old at the time of filming. Now he is 47 and looks vastly different.
Peter has starred in many movies since “A Christmas Story,” including “Elf” alongside Will Ferrell. He has also tried his hand at producing and executive directing.

Darren McGavin, who played the old man, passed away in 2006. In his lifetime he also acted in “Kolchak: The Night Stalker.”
The actress who played Ralphie’s mom, Melinda Dillon, has had an acting career spanning more than two decades. She retired in 2007 and is 79 years old.

CHRISTMAS SPECIAL BROADCASTS
Fans of “A Christmas Story” and other festive films and television specials are in for a treat this December.
On Christmas eve TBS will air “A Christmas Story” for 24 hours straight starting at 8 pm. NBS, on the other hand, will broadcast "It's A Wonderful Life" at 8 pm.
Children will also be catered for by broadcasts of "Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman" at 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. respectively.
