Jamie Lee Curtis steals the spotlight with her new platinum-white hair at the Golden Globes
White ensembles were fairly popular during the 76th Golden Globe Awards celebrated on January 6, but nobody donned the color better than actress Jaime Lee Curtis, who debuted her platinum-white hair on the red carpet.
From the show’s co-host Sandra Oh, who took home the award for Best Actress, to former child star Dakota Fanning, many were the stars who opted for the color white when they planned their looks for the celebrity gathering.
But no look was as inspiring as 60-year-old Jamie Lee Curtis’, as her hair color is seen as an empowering statement for mature women in the entertainment business. Read more on our Twitter account @amomama_usa
Curtis has been known to keep her hairstyle the same for many years, and her recently-embraced white-haired look is the result of aging with pride and not trying to appear younger to please others.
According to Shared, Curtis made a pact with herself to stop caring about what other people think of her appearance, as part of her path to recovery from her addictions. This made her stay off plastic surgery and dying her hair.
"I'm trying hard to take the veil off the fraud, to be real, to start with me. In the recovery programme, I'm in (for addiction problems), they talk about peeling an onion, exposing more layers," the “Freaky Friday” star said years ago.
“I'm going to look the way God intends me to look … with a little help from Manolo Blahnik,” she shared back then, mentioning the Spanish designer to make clear that keeping a natural look wasn’t going to make her any less stylish.
For the 2019 edition of the prestigious film and TV awards ceremony, the “True Lies” star proved that she can still be a fashion icon without trying to hide those details that reveal her age, such as her hair.
While she had been seen rocking grey hair in her recent appearances, this is the first time when she flaunts her icy white hair in public, and her fans couldn’t be more pleased with the way she coordinated her outfit to her hair.
“Jamie Lee Curtis rocking that snow white hair! I approve!” a fan tweeted. “Beautiful as always - She really looks great! She is one star I have always looked up too. Would love to meet her in person,” added another social media user.
While Curtis exudes confidence nowadays and is a champion for all those who are against Hollywood’s obsession with youth, she wasn’t always like this.
In fact, she struggled with her self-image for years and thought cosmetic surgery was the answer until her battle against addiction to painkillers in the ’90s helped her understand that it was only going to make it harder for her to accept herself.
"I've done it all. I've had a little plastic surgery. I've had a little lipo. I've had a little Botox. And you know what? None of it works. None of it."
