Flashback to Melania and Donald's early relationship
US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump had instant “chemistry” when they first met in 1998.
The former model, now 48, met the future president in New York, as reported by Express UK.
Melania has been criticized on several occasions, mostly because of her fashion choices.
“We had a great chemistry when we met in 1998 and we started dating and we dated for a long time before we got married and we got married, we had a son but we had a great chemistry from the day one,” she said in a rare interview with Fox News.
Melania shared that she went through a lot before becoming who she is today.
'A LOT OF STEPS'
“It’s incredible, especially when you think about your life, where you were born and all the steps you took. I took a lot of steps, it’s not just like you end up here,” she said.
She added: “You learn a lot on the way here and in my business, in fashion business, it’s a tough business as well and here the politics as well, it’s a tough business, and you need to have very thick skin.”
Melania also talked about the hardships she is facing as the wife of one of the most powerful men in the world.
She said there were many “opportunists” who would use her name and her family name for their selfish interests. She cited comedians, journalists, and book writers.
“It doesn’t hurt, the problem is they are writing the history and it’s not correct,” she said.
She defended herself against critics, saying: “I do what I think is right, I know I will get the criticism from the public or from the media but I will do what is right and what I feel is right for the country and for the people.”
CRITICISMS OVER FASHION CHOICES
Melania has been criticized on several occasions, mostly because of her fashion choices.
In one such occasion, she faced a backlash for wearing a jacket with a message deemed by many as inappropriate.
She had traveled to the Mexico border for a surprise visit to children who were forcefully separated from their families.
She wore a Zara jacket for the occasion, with the slogan 'I really don't care, do u' emblazoned on the back.
