Erykah Badu takes to Twitter to fire back at critics who claimed she was defending R. Kelly. She claims she only stated she "wants healing" for the singer.

During her concert in Chicago earlier this month, Erykah Badu had sent out a prayer for R.Kelly. She went on to say she felt he needed to get help.

However, she received a mixed response from her fans with the crowd booing her while she spoke. Many felt she was trying to defend the now disgraced rapper.

She took to Twitter to defend herself saying some of the stuff has been fabricated and taken out of context. In a powerful tweet, she addressed Kelly again stating that she does not condone what he had done and she thinks he needs to seek help.

"That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt." wrote the star.

But fans were still displeased. Many felt she had reduced the terrible crimes he committed to merely "poor choices" and demeaned the pain that the victims of his crimes felt.

However, others seemed to see where she was coming from and backed her up. One wrote, "Just pointing out that she’s not defending him."

@JonelleGlori wrote in a tweet that Badu retweeted, "I was at this concert last night. @fatbellybella stated that she would pray for R.Kelly and his healing and the worlds healing and now everyone is fake outraged. The people writing the blogs and the people upset weren't there and are completely taking what she said out of context."

The singer got embroiled in the situation after she took a moment during her concert at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago to talk about her views on the situation. She had stated that she "hoped he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about,”

R Kelly is currently being exposed. A Lifetime docu-series called “Surviving R. Kelly” has blasted the star with horrifying allegations.

The show featured interviews with women who are accusing Kelly of sexual abuse. It includes interviews with his ex-wife, underage girls and even covered his questionable relationship with the late Aaliyah.

Kelly is currently facing several accusations including sexual abuse of minors, leading a sex cult and controlling women to stay with him under their own will.
