Al Roker, the TV personality best known as the weather anchor on “Today,” took to Instagram to share a slideshow of his beach day with his family.

In the first photo, the anchor appeared wearing a red shirt, dark sunglasses and a white hat smiling at the camera. Next to him, his wife Deborah Roberts was flashing her smile in a black swimsuit.

The couple’s son, Nick, was also posing for the photo. One of the most beautiful aspects of the image, though, was the sunset behind the family, which was fully displayed in the second picture of the slideshow.

THE CAPTION AND PEOPLE’S REACTION

For the third photo, Al appeared sitting on a beach lounger while smoking a cigar. In the caption, the man wrote, “Going from 85° in the beach at the @ritzcarltongrandcayman to a #windchill of -10 in #nyc when we land. #thankful for the break.”

As soon as he uploaded that slideshow, his followers took to the comment section to share their thoughts.

“Have a wonderful vacation. Great picture!” wrote one user.

“Have fun Al! You and the family deserve it! Have fun! Take in some [fish] while your there!” [sic] added a second follower.

“Please don’t ever pick up another cigar! You do so much to be healthy - please don’t cut your life short by smoking!” pointed out a concerned person.

DEVELOPMENTAL CHALLENGES OF AL’S SON

That outing took place almost a year after Al and Deborah talked to People about Nick’s developmental struggles at the 2018 ADAPT Leadership Awards Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

Al revealed that it was “apparent” that Nick was facing some challenges, what made them feel unsure about the family’s future. At the age of three, it was difficult for the boy to talk, walk, and move properly.

Thankfully, Al and Deborah got a team of therapists that were focused on helping Nick and they “watched him blossom” soon after that. Years later, the boy was living a quite normal life as he was going to school and even joined a Taekwondo team. Nick even earned the black belt a couple of years ago.

AL’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY AT NBC

It is not the first time that Al and his family made headlines, though. On December 14, 2018, Al, 64, celebrated his 40th anniversary at NBC, receiving adoration from colleagues as well as a variety of famous people and other "Today" show mainstays.

Deborah and Nick were among the people who surprised the anchor on set by showing up with a colorful birthday cake, something that drove Al to tears. One of the biggest surprises for him, though, was changing the name of the Today Show Plaza to the “Rokerfeller Plaza.”
