Mariah Carey Shares Photo With Her Twins, Monroe and Moroccan, for St. Patrick's Day
Mariah Carey just proved that while she is the undisputed Queen of Christmas, she can own any holiday she touches.
The music icon took to social media to share a festive look with her favorite people, but sharp-eyed fans quickly turned the celebration into a debate about the family tree.

The singer marked the holiday on March 18, 2026, with a rare family photo on Instagram featuring her 14-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. The festive snapshot was warm, color-coordinated, and apparently just the right amount of controversial.

Between pointed opinions about her outfit, strong feelings about who the twins favor, and Monroe's own viral moment months earlier that reshaped how fans see the family, the comment section had nowhere quiet to land.

Mariah and Nick: A Marriage, a Split, and a Co-Parenting Pact
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's story is one of pop culture's more unexpected pairings. After just a few months of dating, the two married secretly in the Bahamas in 2008 — no fanfare, no red carpet.

Three years later, Monroe and Moroccan arrived, and Mariah had a new title she seemed to take more seriously than any other: mom. She has always been openly affectionate about the twins, whom she calls Roc and Roe.

"They're a lot, but they give me so much love in return. I wouldn't be the same person without them," she said. When the marriage ended in 2014, and the divorce was finalized in 2016, the focus shifted to keeping things steady for the kids.

Mariah was candid about that too. "I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk," she added. By most accounts, they meant it.

Nick Cannon's Expanding Family Tree
While Mariah kept the twins largely out of the spotlight, Nick's life took a very different and very public direction. Since the divorce, he has gone on to father ten more children with several women, a fact that has made the Cannon family tree one of the most discussed in entertainment.

His children include sons Golden Sagon, Rise Messiah, Zion Mixolydian, Zillion Heir, and Legendary Love, and daughters Powerful Queen, Beautiful Zeppelin, Onyx Ice Cole, and Halo Marie Cannon.
He also had a son named Zen with Alyssa Scott, who died at just 5 months old in December 2021 after being diagnosed with brain cancer, a loss Nick mourned publicly.
For Monroe and Moroccan, growing up with 10 half-siblings they rarely see, most of them significantly younger, has quietly shaped the way the public understands their family. And last November, Monroe decided she had heard enough confusion about it.

Monroe's Viral PSA
On November 13, 2025, the 14-year-old hopped on Instagram Stories with a message that felt very much like a teenager who had reached her limit.
"Clearing something up guys," she opened, before getting straight to it: "I only have ONE brother who is @moroccan.cannon. I do have other half siblings from my dad but they are all many many years younger than me!"
The post, now deleted, spread quickly. Monroe had delivered a family clarification with the kind of dry efficiency that tends to go viral, and it did. It was also one of the rare moments either twin had spoken publicly at all.
Which made the St. Patrick's Day photo, just a few months later, feel like its own kind of event.

The Green Looks
Mariah went all out for the occasion in a fitted emerald green dress with a thigh-high slit, posing next to green-themed decorations at home. She captioned the post with a simple but spirited "Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! 💚☘️"

Monroe kept it casual in a green t-shirt layered under a black sweatshirt with baggy jeans, while Moroccan matched the energy in a green sweatshirt and jeans. It was one of the more candid, low-key holiday snapshots Mariah has shared in recent memory.
Fans React to How Grown the Twins Are
The post quickly racked up reactions, with many fans floored by how much the twins have grown. But one observation dominated the comment section, and it wasn't about Mariah's dress.
Fans were struck by Moroccan's resemblance to his father. "Rocky is looking just like his dad oh my!" one commenter wrote. "That son Nick's twin baby. 😍 you guys are beautiful!" another added.
Over on Facebook, the comparisons kept coming: "Somebody is looking just like Nick Cannon" and "Someone's looking like their daddy 👦🏻" were among the top reactions.
"Twins look like ✨ their father ...They didn't take anything from Mariah jaja it's a shame," someone noted while another added, "Son looks just like Nick!"

Mariah's styling took a few hits too. "Love this lady but she needs a new look 😂😂 a fitted gown with some leg shown hate to see her coming 😂" one fan wrote.

Another was more blunt: "Change stylist, that dress and hair looks like you got it from temu." Others kept it diplomatic but still had notes: "Love the the dress for St. Patrick's Day look beautiful on you 😅 but red look more better to be very honest [sic]."

For a singer who rarely lets cameras near her kids, the photo was already a treat. That the internet had this much to say about it was almost beside the point — almost.
