Meghan Markle's 45th Birthday Photo Sparks Comments About Her Legs as Others Question 'Weird' Details — Last Year's Celebration Also Divided Fans
When Meghan Markle published high-energy snapshots to mark her 45th birthday, she probably expected warm wishes, but social media instantly hyper-focused on unusual visual anomalies.
The Duchess of Sussex chose a playful poolside theme to celebrate her milestone day on August 4, 2026. Yet viewers quickly bypassed the festive spirit to dissect every pixel of her midair pose.
Beyond the celebratory atmosphere, critics began pointing out unexplainable physical inconsistencies in the imagery. What started as a joyful update swiftly transformed into an intense debate across multiple platforms.
A Splashy Post Under Fire
On her birthday morning, Meghan shared new black-and-white photos on her Instagram page to celebrate turning 45. The images showed her mid-air in a dark swimsuit jumping into a pool with balloons, followed by a second shot underwater, captioned, "Thank you for the birthday love! 🎈"

Alongside the pictures, she posted Instagram Story clips of herself dancing and trying, without much success, to keep birthday hats on the family dogs. However, online observers on a popular Facebook post instantly directed their focus toward her body.

Critics launched into harsh body-shaming remarks, labeling her legs as "The skinny legs," with some remarking, "Legs so thin." Others pointed out her feet with "Look at the size of her feet !!" while wondering why she plunged into water "With glasses on???"
The poolside plunge also revived persistent royal comparisons. On what would become a viral X thread, a netizen shared Meghan's midair snap side-by-side with a famous photo of Princess Diana leaping into the ocean, writing, "Look Harry, I'm just like your mother."
The debate grew even stranger as commenters analyzed the background mechanics of the photo. One skeptic wrote, "Something is off with the picture. Why does it appear like she is jumping off the rope but the rope is behind her arm and no way her body position would be like that. Just saying. Weird."
Another viewer slammed the image as staged, claiming, "Has to be fake, who jumps in the pool with balloons, sunglasses, jewelry including a watch 🙄 she’s a loon. I think she does this on purpose."
History Repeats Itself Online
As we previously reported, Meghan's birthday posts have drawn scrutiny before — just last year, photos from her birthday dinner sparked a wave of mixed reactions online.
On August 6, 2025, Meghan posted a photo reflecting on turning 44 two days prior. She expressed gratitude to her husband, friends, and family while praising an extraordinary meal at Funke in Los Angeles.
"Blowing out the candles on a beautiful 24 hours, and thanking my husband, friends and family for making it so special," she wrote. "To those of you I don't know, but who send love every day — thank you so much. Please know I feel it and appreciate it ❤️."
In the same caption, Meghan praised the dinner she enjoyed at Funke, a high-end Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, calling it one of the most memorable meals she's ever had. "The culinary mastery of @evanfunke and his team is in the top five meals of my life. Extraordinary 🍝 Thank you for a standout dining experience," she added.
The post featured a photo of Meghan seated at a restaurant table, leaning forward to blow out two lit candles on a round, flower-topped cake. She wore a white Valentino mini dress with floral appliqués and gem embellishments around the collar. She previously wore the same outfit during an appearance with Prince Harry at Global Citizen Live in New York City in September 2021.

Shortly after Meghan's post went live, followers filled the comment section with questions. Several focused on the apparent absence of Prince Harry and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. "Where's your husband?" one asked. Another wondered, "Still nothing from Harry! Are they separated?" A third added, "Family? Where? 😂"
Similar comments appeared beneath other birthday-related posts across her profile. "Where was Harry? How long is she going to be 44???" one follower asked. "I don't see Harry or the kids in this pic! 😢," said another. "Where's Harry? Where's his tribute? It must be true that they have separated," another added.

Some netizens turned their attention to Meghan's appearance, suggesting cosmetic changes. "Showcasing her new nose and jawline for her birthday," one comment read. Another joked, "Happy new nose. 😂" A third simply stated, "New nose." An additional person remarked, "Nice new nose 🐽 job 😂."
"Did she had [sic] a nose job?" asked another. "Oh wow – she has a new nose. Is it the 4th or 5th or 🤔," someone else commented. Speculation continued on X, where one user asked, "Did she get her nose done or something?"
Another posted, "Did Meghan get nose filler? She likes to show off when she gets her wonky nose filled and straightened." One added, "She's had a nose job. That's why she's been radio silent."
While Meghan didn't include Harry or their children in her post, her longtime friend Tracy Robbins did share a moment from the celebration. In her Instagram tribute, Robbins posted a photo of the two of them with drinks in hand.
"Happy birthday my dear @meghan Oh how I can laugh and dance with you like no other. You are sunshine in a bottle! Thank you for always making time to be such a loving and connected friend no matter what's going on in your life. You dance through this life with so much grace, light and love! I hope your wee posse of 3 are smothering you with hugs and kisses today my dear! Happiest of birthdays M! [sic]," she penned.
Just days before the viral birthday post, Meghan and Harry were photographed together at Santa Claus Beach in Carpinteria, California, watching their son, Prince Archie, take surfing lessons. The family outing, shared on August 2, drew praise and criticism of the couple's parenting approach.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a fun day out at Santa Claus Beach in Carpinteria, California, on August 1, 2025, as their son, Prince Archie, took surfing lessons.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan spent time together on the sand as they watched Archie, 6, enjoy the water. Their daughter, Princess Lilibet, was not pictured at the beach with them.
Harry sported a gray shirt and a pair of black shorts for the laid-back occasion, camouflaging himself from the crowd with a tan baseball cap. Meanwhile, Meghan wore a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, paired with shorts and a large beige sun hat to shield her face from the sun.
Fans were left divided by the family outing. While some praised the couple for encouraging their son's adventurous spirit, others criticized them for what they saw as risky parenting.
"Out there, living their best lives. Oh, this makes me so happy for them😍😍👏👏," one supporter praised. "Omg 6 already, he's getting so big," a second gushed.
"Let's not focus on the parents. It's good to see Archie not sheltered," a third person commented. "Archie is gonna be so cool 🫶🏽 real cali boy ✨️💯, [sic]" another supporter added.
However, not everyone was pleased. "Your 6yo son are on sea having lessons with someone and you don't watch them closely? Don’t you worry about it? [sic]" someone shared in disbelief. "6yo is still too young and they look really far away from the sea and not paying attention at all. [sic]"
"And they were kind enough to call the paparazzi to share it with the world," a netizen slammed. "They aren't even watching or looking for Archie in a shark-infested, riptide-filled, tsunami-threatened ocean," a Reddit comment read. "Not paying one iota of attention to their 6-year-old on the beach. A recipe for disaster," agreed another.
