Harry explained that sport does more than improve physical fitness. He said it helps people regain confidence, stay mentally focused, and believe they can overcome challenges that once seemed impossible.

He also noted that its benefits extend to families, helping them heal alongside their loved ones, and said the recovery and growth that follow adversity can be more meaningful than the setback itself.

He said the Invictus Games have since grown to include hundreds of competitors from 26 nations, proving that sport can restore confidence as well as create champions.

"Every one of us in this room knows that sport can produce champions," Harry said. "But perhaps that's not the greatest achievement at all—it's helping people believe they still have a future."

Harry closed by recognizing two Invictus Games competitors attending the gala, saying they embodied "resilience, leadership, and an enduring commitment to their communities and to their country." He ended his toast by reflecting on what he believes is sport's lasting impact.

Another Solo Trip Soon Drew Attention for a Different Reason

Harry's string of solo appearances continued in early July when he traveled to the United Kingdom for a series of charity engagements. Before the visit began, however, attention shifted from his schedule to who would — and would not — be joining him.

People reported on July 4 that Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, would not accompany Harry to London. At the time, the decision was linked to the family's ongoing concerns about security arrangements during visits to Britain, an issue Harry has repeatedly said affects whether Meghan and their children can travel there.

In a statement shared with the publication, a spokesperson for the Duke said, "The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit."

While King Charles III had offered accommodations on a royal estate, the proposed security arrangements would not extend beyond the property. The spokesperson added that Harry continued to explore "every available option" that would allow his children to visit the U.K. safely.

The report came more than a year after Harry told the BBC that he could not "see a world" in which he would bring Meghan and their children back to Britain under the existing security arrangements, adding that it was "really quite sad" that he could not show his children the country where he grew up.

"You know I love my country, I always have done despite what some people in the country have done," he said at the time.

The Palace described the gathering as a "private family occasion," offering few additional details about the meeting. However, the visit marked a significant moment for the royal family.

It was the first time Charles had seen his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, in person in more than four years. The reunion also represented the first time Harry and Meghan had traveled to the U.K. together since attending Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in 2022.
