King Charles Reportedly Has a Plan to Heal the Rift Between Prince William and Prince Harry

Nearly three decades after losing their mother, the royal brothers may soon find themselves side by side once again. Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex is said to be quietly exploring a tribute of his own.

A plan is reportedly in the works to reconcile estranged royal brothers Prince William and Prince Harry. Their father, King Charles III, is said to be determined to see his sons reunited and is reportedly open to the idea of a service honoring their late mother, Princess Diana.

Next August marks 30 years since the death of the late Princess of Wales, and according to a recent report by the Daily Mail, the 77-year-old monarch has "raised no objection" to a thanksgiving service for his former wife.

The King was reportedly approached with a way to celebrate Diana's life that would also bring their sons together. "His Majesty has apparently 'raised no objection' to a thanksgiving service [for Diana]," Daily Mail columnist Ephraim Hardcastle revealed.

"It would be similar to the 2007 one on her tenth anniversary at the Wellington Barracks Guards' Chapel, where her favorite music was played and Harry delivered the eulogy," Hardcastle said. "While the boys seem to have rejected any chance of working together, the religious event might help heal the rift."

Away from any royal gathering, Harry is reportedly working on his own way of honoring Diana. The Duke's spokesman has confirmed that he is considering making a documentary about his mother to mark the 30th anniversary of her death next year.

He is understood to have asked several of the princess's friends and relatives whether they would take part in a commemorative film ahead of the milestone.

"The duke has discussed a number of possible projects," his spokesman said. "Nothing has been finalized or confirmed, and he is still considering the most meaningful way to honor his mother's legacy during this important anniversary year."

The documentary could be produced through Harry and Meghan's Archewell Productions, which has a first-look deal with Netflix for its film and television projects. According to a source, William has also been approached with numerous offers to appear in a rival program.

However, he is understood to have no plans to do so. Instead, a source confirmed to the Daily Mail that the idea of a service featuring both brothers is being seriously considered.

"This would be an inspirational way to remember Diana," the source said. "William could celebrate his mother's life by giving a reading. That would be far more dignified than appearing in a television program that would inevitably be portrayed as a rival to whatever Harry might make. And it would also serve to bring the brothers together."

When asked about the matter, a Kensington Palace spokesman said, "We wouldn't comment on how the Prince of Wales will mark the anniversary."

William and Harry were last seen at the same event in 2024, when they attended the Norfolk funeral of their uncle Lord (Robert) Fellowes, who was married to Diana's sister, Lady Jane. However, the brothers reportedly did not exchange words.

Before that, they both attended the unveiling of a statue of Diana in the gardens of Kensington Palace, her former home, on what would have been her 60th birthday in 2021.

The event came just four months after Harry and Meghan's bombshell Oprah interview, and the body language between the brothers was noticeably awkward.

On the 20th anniversary of their mother's death in 2017, the brothers appeared in the same BBC documentary, "Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy."
