Meghan Markle's Candles Honouring Her Children Archie and Lilibet Spark Buzz over Their Price and More – Photos
The Duchess's lifestyle brand As Ever has dropped a Mother's Day collection featuring candles inspired by her children — and the internet has a lot to say about the price tag.
Meghan Markle has put her children's names — and their birthdays — on a candle. And at $64 a piece (approx. £50), the internet is not staying quiet about it.

The Duchess of Sussex launched a Mother's Day collection on 22 April through her lifestyle brand, As Ever, featuring two new signature candles inspired by her son, Prince Archie of Sussex, and her daughter, Princess Lilibet of Sussex.
The drop marks the first time Meghan has explicitly tied individual products to her children — and it arrived under some weight: it is the first major launch since As Ever parted ways with Netflix.
Alongside the chocolates, the centrepiece of the collection is a pair of scented candles housed in matte white ceramic vessels embossed with a palm-tree crest — the As Ever signature.
Signature Candle No. 506 is a nod to Archie's May 6th birthday. Described as a warm, comforting scent, it carries notes of ginger, neroli, and cashmere — a subtle wink, the brand notes, at his red hair.

In official press materials, the children are referred to by their full royal titles — Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex. Archie and Lilibet were born without royal titles but received them when their grandfather, King Charles III, acceded to the throne in 2022.
The family now uses Sussex as a surname; in a March 2026 Instagram post, Meghan referred to Harry, 41, as "Papa Sussex."

Meghan, 44, told Town & Country that her vision for As Ever has always been about bringing "beauty and ease" to people's lives — as a host, a guest, a friend, and a mother.
"It began with a pot of jam," she said, "and a collection for your kitchen and now we are excited that the collection will soon expand into other parts of your home."

The brand, now operating fully under Meghan's independent leadership following its split from Netflix, is pivoting towards fragrance and what it describes as "apothecary" offerings.
But it is the $64 price point on the candles that has drawn the most fire online.
"And why should anyone give $64 for a candle?" one commenter demanded bluntly. "What? Who on earth would buy this?" another scoffed. "Who's paying 64.00 FOR A CANDLE!?!? This is ridiculously out of touch 🙄," a third fumed.
The cost comparisons came swiftly. "64 dollars can by me 5 candles on sale from bath and bodyworks and a bottle of body spray [sic]," one shopper reasoned pointedly.
"In this economy, who is buying a $64 candle🤨," another added, unconvinced.
For others, the issue was less the price and more the principle of featuring the children in marketing at all. "Sticking their kids names to it to try and get more sales — shameless," one commenter charged coldly.

"Poor children, they got to use their names to sell products so sad. You should go get you a GoFundMe page instead of using your children.😢," another lamented sharply.
"Pimping the kids how disgusting and desperate, nasting up the Queen's name," one viewer raged.

The Mother's Day collection also includes three bundle sets. "The Mother's Day Edit" — priced at $186 (approx. £146) — pairs both candles with the Compartés chocolate box and a new matchbox.
"The Sweetest Mom Set" at $105 (approx. £80) brings together pantry staples including sage honey, flower sprinkles, strawberry spread, orange marmalade, and chocolate.

"Mother's Day Tea for Two", priced at $118 (approx. £90), features the brand's peppermint and lemon ginger teas alongside a honey duo and chocolate.
The "Signature Scent Collection", at $256 (approx. £190), includes all four As Ever candles and matches.

Meghan has long woven her family's story into the brand's identity. Ahead of As Ever's launch in 2025, the homepage featured a photograph of her and Lilibet.
On her podcast "Confessions of a Female Founder", she mused to Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles, "I wonder if one day I'll be in business with Lili and we'll be building something."

She has spoken openly about the broader intention. "Being able to have my own little girl, as I've spent so much of my life championing the rights of girls and women [...] I love the heritage feeling of it and knowing this is something that I can create in front of my daughter and teach her what it's like to be a working mom," she told People.
"This is something that hopefully can be part of her legacy too."
Whether candle buyers agree or disagree, the Mother's Day collection is available now — and for Meghan, it appears to be just the beginning of As Ever's next chapter.
The candle launch was just the latest moment in a stretch of weeks that have kept the Duke and Duchess of Sussex firmly in the headlines — and not only for what they are selling.

As Amomama readers may recall, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently made a rare public appearance at a private Montecito soirée hosted by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and his wife Nicole Avant, celebrating the launch of "Beef" Season 2.

The couple arrived as a united front, but it was Meghan who dominated the conversation — and not entirely for the reasons one might expect.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, wore a floor-length, sleeveless satin dress in a striking olive-gold green, featuring a tiered skirt with horizontal pleated panels that gave the gown a structured, layered silhouette.

The neckline sat modestly across the chest, with a side zipper detail visible along the bodice. She paired the look with strappy heeled sandals and wore her dark hair swept back loosely, keeping her accessories minimal and her makeup warm and glowing.
Prince Harry cut a classic figure beside her in a tailored navy suit worn over a crisp white dress shirt, left open at the collar — looking relaxed but polished, the picture of effortless evening dress.

The couple was photographed alongside Ted and Nicole, all four smiling warmly for the camera in what appeared to be a private outdoor space, the rustic stone backdrop lending the evening an intimate, Californian charm.
But the moment the images landed online, the focus shifted — squarely onto Meghan's dress.

"This dress is so bad," one commenter declared flatly, while another piled on with zero hesitation, "Yes that's the Shrek dress 😂."
"Oh my goodness look at the side of that dress!!" one viewer exclaimed, while another went straight for the jugular, "That dress is hideous 😮 also this has been touched up because the first pics that came out showed exactly how bad the dress really was."

Others zeroed in on the styling. "She loves wearing bogey green, doesn't suit her. Plus giving everyone an eyeful of her flat baps 😂," one netizen quipped sharply. Another reached for the produce aisle for their analogy, snickering, "Like an olive 🫒 stuffed mushrooms 🍄🟫."
Attention also turned to the body language in the group shot. "She is pulling the lady's arm and resting her head on the lady's shoulder, while the lady shows affection only towards the gentleman 😮," one viewer observed, clearly unconvinced by the dynamic on display.

Then came the detail that sent a subset of commenters into full forensic mode — the hands. "Something is wrong with the hand holding. It's blurred and the lady has her fingers in some weird position. AI or photoshoped. Why?" one commenter demanded, suspicion barely contained.
Others echoed the sentiment in rapid succession. "Whats up with the hand holding, and akward neck posture of the Meghan❓️ [sic]," one puzzled, while another asked simply, "What's up with the awkward hand holding?"

The appearance comes amid swirling reports of strain in the Sussexes' relationship with Netflix — speculation the couple appeared, at least for one evening, entirely unbothered by.
It was just one of several recent outings drawing public attention — and divided opinion. Just days later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in Australia for a four-day tour, where the scrutiny only intensified.

During the first day of their visit, the couple spent time meeting children and their families, pausing for photos, conversations, and heartfelt interactions that quickly became the defining images of their arrival in Australia.
Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan Markle, 44, were met with an overwhelming reception as they stepped out for their first engagement in Melbourne, drawing packed crowds at the Royal Children's Hospital on 14 April 2026.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex began their four-day Australian tour with a stop that quickly turned into a scene of excitement, as families, staff, and supporters filled every available space inside the hospital to catch a glimpse of the couple.
Cameras were raised high, phones flashed, and cheers rippled through the crowd as the pair made their way through the busy wards.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared at ease in a sleeveless navy dress with gold button detailing — a £650 (AUS$1,250) piece by Australian designer Karen Gee.
A press release issued to coincide with her appearance confirmed that Meghan had "personally selected" the dress, along with a number of pieces from Gee's collection, to wear throughout the week.

It was a label with sentimental resonance; she had worn one of Gee's dresses during her last visit to Australia back in 2018. Her husband, meanwhile, opted for a classic dark suit, and the pair were frequently seen smiling, waving, and stopping for photos.
Despite the celebratory mood inside the hospital, the visit quickly sparked a wave of commentary online, with reactions sharply divided.

At several moments, they paused to greet children and their families, with the Duchess offering warm hugs and kneeling to speak at eye level with younger patients, creating a more intimate atmosphere amid the buzz.
The visit blended public spectacle with quieter, more personal exchanges. The Duke and Duchess were seen crouching beside children, chatting with parents, and even joining in for selfies, as delighted onlookers leaned in to capture the moment.
In one particularly striking scene, the couple posed with a group of young patients and hospital staff, their smiles wide as a sea of phones documented the encounter. Despite the celebratory mood inside the hospital, the visit quickly sparked a wave of commentary online, with reactions sharply divided.

Some responses were openly critical of the optics of the visit. One person commented, "What is this? why [sic] are they using those poor children as props?" while another shared, "Markle and harry are not showing their kids' faces cause privacy while using other people's kids for this [sic]."
The couple's public display of affection did not go unnoticed either.

A further remark read, "Poor kids," as others questioned the circumstances around the gathering. Concerns about the children's wellbeing also surfaced, with one person writing, "The hospital took sick children out of their bedrooms to put them in line to welcome private citizens. Seriously I'm shocked!!"
Another added, "The kids don't seem interested at all. But given their current state, it's understandable. They should be resting."

Others cast doubt on the authenticity of the reception itself. "This looks like a rent a crowd - nobody looks like they want to be there including the children 😮," one comment read, while another typed, "They are probably hired audience members for the shoot."
A similar sentiment followed, with one person stating, "The crowd look [sic] very underwhelmed 😂." The Duchess of Sussex also became a focal point in several remarks, with one person writing, "Look at her. She loves It. She Is the One Who did not want attention [sic]😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂."

Another observer added, "Lol look at the faces that she pulls 😂 how is she even an actress."
The couple's public display of affection did not go unnoticed either. One comment noted, "Still holding hands even in a hospital...seriously 😬🫣."

The visit's impact was not lost on those who witnessed it firsthand. Professor Christine Kilpatrick AO, Board Chair of The Royal Children's Hospital, was unequivocal in her assessment, telling PEOPLE:
"Look around and you can see the crowds of people, the smiles on their faces and what it means to them. Everyone is absolutely delighted."

"You can't measure the morale boost, but it is palpable," she added.
"Many of these patients have been here for quite some time and are often very frequent visitors to the hospital, a joy like this is wonderful for them."

From the hospital, Meghan made her way solo to McAuley Community Services for Women, a shelter supporting survivors of family violence, where she rolled up her sleeves, donning a pinstriped apron to serve frittatas to residents.
It was there that she shared a warm and widely circulated exchange with a woman named Leah, who wasted no time in offering the Duchess an effusive compliment as Meghan dished up her plate.

"You look amazing, you look like a model," Leah told her. Visibly caught off guard, Meghan replied, "Oh my god, that's so generous."
Leah pressed on, "You've got children and you don't have wrinkles. Nice glow as well." A laughing Meghan shook her head, insisting that she did have wrinkles, before telling Leah warmly, "You are so nice!"

The clip made its rounds online, though not everyone was charmed. "She is so full of herself and her title," one viewer scoffed. Another was more pointed, fuming, "I met her in London. She's a nasty piece of work. She's only nice when cameras are on her."
A third took a different angle entirely, demanding, "Why are they cosplaying royals and mimicking a royal tour? Why is the hospital allowing this nonsense?"
Later, the couple reunited at the Australian National Veterans Art Museum, where they joined children for a pottery class — aprons on, hands in clay, and Harry in characteristically playful form.
A clip shared online captured Meghan fielding a rather ambitious request from one of the young participants, who asked her to sculpt an ostrich. "That's a tough order, but I can try," she said gamely, rolling a ball of clay in her hands.

Harry, meanwhile, kept the children entertained in his own way — by pressing a piece of clay to his face and inhaling deeply, earning bemused delight from the room.
It was also at the Veterans Museum that a fleeting moment between the couple caught the attention of a body language expert. As Harry and Meghan crossed the road outside the venue, the Duchess was seen clutching her husband's arm, while Harry extended a protective arm outward as traffic paused to let them pass.
When a reporter called out to ask whether they were enjoying Australia, Harry replied cheerfully, "Yeah, it's wonderful. It's great to be back. Thanks for having us back," before placing a gentle hand on Meghan's back as they headed inside.

Body language expert Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, interpreted Meghan's grip as instinctive rather than theatrical.
"I think it was more of a protective gesture," he told Royal Insider. "It seemed like a moment of panic that Harry was about to step out in front of the cyclists, even though Harry seemed to be aware of them and they seemed to have stopped."

He added that the reaction, conscious or not, spoke to something deeper. "Even though she may have known there was no danger, this is a subconscious instinctive gesture to protect the ones we love."
Stanton concluded that Meghan's reflexive pull said something telling about the couple's bond — "The fact her reflex is to pull him away from danger, real or imagined, shows how much Harry means to her and the strength of their bond. It is actually really sweet to see."

As their Australian tour continues across Canberra and Sydney, the Duke and Duchess' first appearance has already set the tone — high-profile, highly visible, and certain to keep conversation flowing both on the ground and online.
