Refuses to Speak for Reiner

During the interview, host Billy Bush pressed Jackson on whether he had anything to share on behalf of his former client. Jackson's answer left no room for confusion. "No. No. Um, I don't speak on Nick's behalf at this point. I speak as a private citizen at this juncture, right?" he said. "I've been withdrawn from his representation. So, I don't speak for Nick."

Jackson explained his ongoing silence is rooted in strict professional obligations. "I've said all that I would be willing to say, all that I think is legally and ethically correct. I'm bound by legal and ethical restrictions. And so I've said as much as I can say. People are going to speculate."

Bush went on to highlight Jackson's long-standing reputation for ethics and consistency. Jackson responded with measured restraint. "I know that there's parameters," Jackson said. "There's borders that I can work within, and there's borders that I should not cross, and I'm not going to cross them, not for anybody."

Loyalty Despite Withdrawal

Though Jackson is no longer on the case, he made it clear that his loyalty to Reiner remains. "I'm not going to do anything or say anything that I think would compromise a former client. I always have fealty and loyalty to any client, even if they are a former client."

He wrapped up the discussion with a firm boundary, stating that he would not comment further on Nick Reiner's case due to legal and ethical constraints.

Nick appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, as the legal drama intensified. According to People, he entered with his head shaved, wearing a tan jail-issued jumpsuit.

During the hearing, attorney Alan Jackson entered the judge's chambers. Upon returning, he told the court that his legal team had "no choice" but to withdraw from the case. Nick did not enter a plea at that time.

The judge approved the change in representation and rescheduled the arraignment for February 23, 2026. Nick is now being represented by public defender Kimberly Greene, who has nearly two decades of legal experience. After the hearing, Greene said she had only briefly spoken with Nick that morning and had not spoken with his family.

Death Penalty Still on the Table

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman addressed the case following the January 7 hearing. He said Nick is expected to face two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders.

Prosecutors also filed a special allegation that a "dangerous and deadly" weapon, such as a knife, was used. Hochman emphasized Nick's right to fair representation but said he was confident a jury would find him guilty.

If convicted, Hochman said Nick could face life in prison without parole or even the death penalty. He added that no final decision had been made on whether prosecutors would pursue capital punishment, and said the family's wishes would be taken into account.

Internet Speculation Swirls Around Lawyer's Exit

Public reaction has been swift and unforgiving, especially on social media. Some users questioned whether money was behind Jackson's sudden withdrawal.

One commenter wrote, "The family won't pay him the millions he wants." Another added, "Money & he is 💯 guilty. Lawyers do not care about anything but money & winning."

A third speculated, "Probably his family didn't want to pay him!" And yet another posted bluntly, "No Money!💰"

As the case moves toward the rescheduled arraignment, Nick Reiner remains in custody without bail. The focus now turns to the serious charges he faces, the dramatic shift in legal counsel, and the tight-lipped response from his former attorney following the pivotal court hearing.
