Cher Speaks About Her 'Trans Son' and Claims 'No One Is Really Safe in Trump’s America'
Cher took to social media following a Supreme Court ruling about transgender individuals and slams “Trump’s America.”
Being the proud mother of a transgender son, Cher took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the new ruling that allows the Pentagon to restrict positions for transgender individuals in the military service.
The singing legend made no secret of her distaste for the Trump administration and reacted strongly to the new enforceable ban on any individual that identifies with being transgender. Lower courts continue the argument around the legality of the policy, but with the bill passed it took effect this week.
Responding vehemently to the new ban, Cher tweeted:

Being one of many tweets in Cher’s stream of rants over the current political situation, her criticism of the Trump administration and the ongoing partial government shutdown pulls like a continues thread through her social media posts, as she said in her latest tweet:
Where’s our shame⁉️If There’s disaster where ppl die, what will Our PRECIOUS Shutdown mean then⁉️Do our positions on Shutdown Mean More Than Federal Workers Home, car⁉️What if Federal worker Dies from STRESS⁉️trump’s❤️Less trash he’ll let Shutdown go on till ppl Drop⚰️— Cher (@cher) January 24, 2019
Having lasted over a month, the partial shutdown became the longest in American history since its commencement on December 22, 2018. As President Trump and the Democrats have a tug of war over funding for the border wall, those affected by the shutdown face the absence of another paycheck this Friday.
In other social media posts, Cher blames President Trump for the ongoing partial government shutdown and call for Nancy Pelosi and fellow Democrats to give in to the President’s demand for funding of his border wall, so Americans can stop suffering, as she said:
But one politician seems to have the iconic legend’s approval. Early on Saturday Cher commented on a video clip that had surfaced earlier in the week.
The video showed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dancing while still a college student in ‘Breakfast Club’ style. The clip, according to Page Six, appeared on the day Alexandria got sworn in as a member of Congress.
It was a big day for Alexandria, as she became the youngest woman ever to become a member of Congress at the age of 29. In support of the new Congresswoman, Cher posted a response to the video clip and said:

Good Thing You Can💃🏻,Sponsor a Bill,Put On💄,& Kick Ass At The Same Time👠👠
The newly sworn-in Congresswoman retweeted Cher’s comment and added, “The Queen has spoken!” Alexandria also sent a separate tweet to Cher and wrote:
Thank you @cher! We can fix Congress and have fun doing it - who says we can’t multitask? 😉💜— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) January 5, 2019
While Cher is now an outspoken LGBTQ, it wasn’t always the case. When her only child with Bono, born Chastity Sun Bono on March 4, 1969, came out as a lesbian at the age of 18 Cher “went ballistic.”
However, she came to embrace and accept Chaz’s sexual orientation. It wasn’t until 2010 that Bono had his name legally changed to Chaz from Chastity, while already having started the transitioning into a man at age 39.
Being her son’s biggest fan and supporter, the newly passed bill got Cher riled up, and probably not the last we will hear from Cher about the matter.
