Kim Kardashian and other celebs react to Cyntoia Brown's full clemency thanking gov. Bill Haslam

As news of Cyntoia Brown’s release is shared on social media, celebrities and netizens react to the news.

Brown was serving a 30-year-sentence for killing a man when she was 16. At the time, he had hired to for sex against her will.

Brown was a victim of sex trafficking and defended herself. Instead of receiving justice, she was sent to prison.

Socialite Kim Kardashian began to raise awareness for Brown back in 2018, and it finally paid off, thanks to Governor Bill Haslam.

He ordered her early release on Monday, and the socialite who ignited the spark a year ago thanked the governor on Twitter. She simply wrote:

"Thank you, Governor Haslam."

Since Brown's release, other celebrities have also taken to the social media platform to rejoice in the good news.

Actress and activist Alyssa Milano said "Yes!" when she announced that Brown was granted full clemency. "Thank you, Governor Haslam!" she added.

Actress Jada Pinkett Smith shared the same sentiments, while renowned pastor Talbert Swan thanked the "thousand who advocated for her release.

"There is power in unity," and added, "and thanked Gov Haslam "for having humanity and compassion to do the right thing.

Mark Ruffalo, known for his portrayal of the Hulk in the Marvel films, thanked the governor from granting her clemency.

Author and publisher Abiola Oke that releasing Brown was "the right thing to do," while Reese Witherspoon said the news made her day.

NBC reporter Shomari Stone said Brown "will be eligible for release on August 7" and will remain on parole for the next decade.
