Suspect in Rihanna's House Incident Allegedly Shared Motive Beforehand
The pop star was at home when gunshots rang out at her property, and the woman now in custody may have been telegraphing her twisted reasons for months.
On Sunday night, March 8, 2026, 35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz was arrested after shots were fired at Rihanna's sprawling Beverly Hills mansion. The singer was home at the time, and insiders say she is "freaking the [expletive] out" after the harrowing ordeal.
But a disturbing social media trail left behind by Ortiz quickly began pointing to a motive that was months in the making. And it seems to be all centered around her beliefs.
Before the Shots Were Fired
Ortiz had been posting alarming videos on her YouTube channel for months, many of them zeroing in on Rihanna with increasingly unhinged accusations.
In one clip, she claimed, "I don't like her and she's always trying to steal from me. And she has not ever put out any music to reach people. She only put out her little music so she could do witchcraft."

She went on to urge her viewers:
"So everybody please stop … don't listen to her, don't follow her … because she's stealing from you."
It's not just one isolated clip. Many videos would start as "praying journals" as part of a 60-day challenge, but they would somehow end up mentioning the "Umbrella" singer, and all seemed to be based on a spiritual mandate.
By January 4, 2026, the tone had turned openly threatening. "Listen Rihanna, when you die God is taking me to my future. You want to kill me? Shut the [expletive] up," she said in one clip, looking to the side as if Rihanna were there.

She then looked back to the camera and added, "Yeah, she's a witch. I'm a watchman. Get that stupid girl out of here."
A Grudge With a God Complex
In multiple videos, Ortiz positioned the entire conflict as a spiritual war, declaring that "Rihanna and the devil may be loud, they may be very loud, but that's not power."

But what's more, she cast herself as a chosen figure, insisting she and "Jesus Christ are good." Interestingly, the hostility extended beyond video rants.
Just last month, on February 23, Ortiz directly tagged Rihanna's Instagram account in a Facebook post, taunting the singer to address her directly.

Earlier, on February 17, she shared a photo of rapper Drake alongside an unsubstantiated and deeply offensive claim about Rihanna's health. At this time, there seems to be no truth to those allegations.
And Rihanna was not the only target.

Posts mentioning Kim Kardashian and Cardi B also appeared across her accounts, with Ortiz telling Cardi B in one video, "You can't [expletive] with me, Cardi B. You are supposedly busy right now. You ain't messing with me."
A December 20, 2025, post declared she was "already through with Rihanna," while simultaneously taking aim at Kardashian.

The Night It Escalated
When Ortiz arrived at Rihanna's $13.8 million Beverly Hills estate on the night of Sunday, March 8, she allegedly came armed with an AR-15-style rifle.
The property, purchased by Rihanna in 2021, sits in a neighborhood that also includes homes belonging to Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Paul McCartney. The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate spans 7,600 square feet.

The "Work, Work, Work" singer heard the gunshots but was initially unclear about what was happening. An insider told People that "even with a great security team in place, it's scary to realize that something like this can still happen."
A second source described the night as "terrifying," though noted that the singer was grateful everyone came out safe.

In the days since, Rihanna reportedly cannot understand why her family was targeted. She has taken extra safety precautions and rescheduled at least one photo shoot, according to a source close to the singer who spoke to the New York Post.
A Troubled History
As news of the arrest spread Monday morning, details about Ortiz's past quietly came to the surface. In June 2023, she was arrested in Orlando, Florida, on a domestic battery charge after allegedly attacking her ex-husband outside her apartment, in front of their young daughter.
According to a police report obtained by the New York Post, she had allegedly threatened him via text beforehand, writing, "You'll be getting socked on the nose tonight," and minutes later, "What's it going to be twin, your [sic] calling the shots tonight and I'm throwing punches."
When her ex arrived and began filming on his cell phone, Ortiz allegedly called him a slur, then lunged at him twice before throwing punches.

The responding officer concluded that Ortiz was the "primary aggressor" of the incident, and the daughter, who was extremely disturbed by the incident, was left in the father's custody.
Three months later, Ortiz was arrested again. Authorities claimed she broke the rules of her pretrial release regarding the domestic battery charges. A careless driving charge in Orlando also appeared on her record from September 2021.
Her legal run-ins extended into 2025, when she filed a verified emergency petition in court against Live Nation Worldwide and the city of Orlando, seeking to block a Billie Eilish concert at the Kia Center.
She claimed the organizers neglected to secure the necessary noise waiver and a proper permit for the special event. While Live Nation has a history of collaborating with Rihanna on high-profile tours, investigators have found no link between the singer and the petition.

A Complicated Obsession
Despite the chaos of her recent history, Ortiz's social media accounts revealed glimpses of a more complex history.
In a post from December 19, 2025, she shared a photo of herself with several trophies. Within that post, she noted her past as the "Miss Teen Illinois Latina Princess 2006," highlighting her previous experience in the pageant circuit.
Her Instagram account has since been deactivated. But the YouTube channel and her Facebook are still public.
The posts, the court filings, and the prior arrests all seem to tell the same story: a trail of escalating behavior that, in hindsight, was heading somewhere dangerous long before the night shots were fired at one of music's biggest stars.

The Details from Sunday
As previously reported, just after 1:21 p.m. on March 8, Ortiz pulled up across the street from Rihanna's Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood home and opened fire from inside her vehicle.
According to LAPD dispatch audio reviewed by the Los Angeles Times, at least 10 shots were fired at the property's gate.

One round didn't just graze the surface — it pierced a wall of the mansion. Bullet holes were also found in a gate and in an RV parked in the driveway. Rihanna was inside the home when it all happened.
A$AP Rocky, however, was not there at the time, a family source confirmed to the New York Post. It was initially unclear whether the couple's three young children — sons RZA, three, and Riot, two, and their daughter Rocki, born just over five months ago — were present.

The Suspect and the Chase
After firing, the woman sped off south on Coldwater Canyon Drive in a white Tesla. TMZ first reported the incident, noting that the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
As officers fanned out across the area, LAPD radio relayed a detailed description: the woman had braids, wore a cream-colored blouse, and her car was dirty along the bottom.

A police helicopter spotted the Tesla and tracked it to a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks — roughly 30 minutes after the initial 911 call.
When officers pulled her over and searched the vehicle, what they found made the situation significantly more alarming.
"When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings," LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias said.

Neighbors Were Stunned
The sound of gunfire rolled through the normally serene neighborhood, leaving residents shaken. Keith England, who lives nearby, described what he heard: "Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam — like probably 10 shots."
For England, the location made it even more unsettling. "My first thought was, really? Given the neighborhood, you don't usually expect drive-by shootings in a place like this," he said. "But they're everywhere now."

Another neighbor, Isabel Thorne, reflected on the shock of it all: "It was really loud, and everything echoes in this valley. You can hear everything. A shot — it's not something you expect."
England put it plainly: "It was scary. I can't imagine being in the house hearing the bullets hit and that sort of stuff."

The Family Is 'Doing Okay'
No injuries were reported, according to LAPD Sgt. Jonathan de Vera. A source close to the family told the New York Post that "they are all doing okay."
Still, the motive remains unknown. The same source revealed that Rihanna and A$AP Rocky "don't know much" and are "in the dark as to why this happened." Police have not released the suspect's identity and are actively investigating.

This Is Not the First Time
Sunday's shooting was not the first security scare at one of Rihanna's Los Angeles properties. Back in 2018, a 27-year-old man named Eduardo Leon hopped a fence and broke into her Hollywood Hills home while she was away.
He camped out inside for roughly 12 hours before being discovered by one of her assistants the following day.

Leon later pleaded no contest to stalking and was slapped with a 10-year stay-away order. Also in 2018, surveillance video captured burglars breaking into the Grammy winner's home, a separate incident that added to an already troubling pattern.
