The Detail in North West's Festival Photos That Everyone Noticed
North appeared both backstage and onstage during the festival, posing alongside a friend while dressed in coordinated black leather-inspired outfits that leaned into a full rockstar aesthetic.
With bright blue hair, oversized sunglasses, layered accessories, and dramatic glam, North appeared confident as she flashed hand signs and later took the stage during the event. But online, much of the attention quickly shifted toward the unusual look of her mouth.

The photos also spread across Facebook, where reactions remained divided. One person wrote, "Like father, like daughter," while another commented, "She is living her best life. Remember she is a child. Be kind."
A separate Facebook user added, "EXPRESS YOURSELF! Who cares let hr live her life..... her mom's fashion choices and career choices are more questionable than watching a 12 year old live her best life [sic]."
How North West Addressed It
While the festival photos fueled fresh reactions online, North had previously appeared with the same look during an Instagram Live shared on X.
"Why is my teeth black? Are we okay?" North said during the livestream before later explaining, "I could take them out."
The resurfaced clip renewed discussion surrounding North's evolving style choices online. As previously reported, the celebrity kid had also sparked reactions over another edgy look that many people said seemed far beyond her years.
Dressed to Kill in Balenciaga, North Boldly Shows off Her Second Piercing
In the dimly lit image, North posed with her fist extended toward the camera, highlighting two sleek studs on either side of the index finger of her left hand. Wearing a black Balenciaga tee, a matching mini skirt, turquoise hair, and oversized sunglasses, she embraced a bold, fashion-forward look.
The finger piercing mirrored one she had debuted earlier and quickly sparked reactions online because of its unusual placement.

Netizens Spiral over North's Finger Piercing
The response to North's post was swift, with online viewers taking to various platforms to express a mix of disbelief, concern, and defense. One netizen marveled, "Wow, 12 years old. Unbelievable!" while another echoed the sentiment, "Finger Piercings at 12 is crazy [sic] I just know Ye wasn't with it…"
Others focused on the physical implications of such a piercing, citing personal experience and speculation about the pain involved.

"I can't imagine. My ear piercings are always snagging and taking forever to heal…this is giving me shivers because I can only imagine how painful it would be to have these," one person confessed. In response, someone else added, "Right!? I imagine it would have been painful just to bend or move your fingers too [sic]."
Another agreed with the impracticality, stating, "The finger piercings just aren't made to be long term [sic]." Despite the critical tone of many comments, some came to North's defense, either downplaying the seriousness or calling for understanding.
"You can't blame the poor kid for rebellion!!! She's still a child!! Leave her alone!!!" exclaimed one spectator. Meanwhile, another dismissed the debate altogether by asserting, "They are fake." A few supported the young star's decision entirely, with one commenter penning, "Nothing wrong with piercings. Carry on."
Dangerous New Trend Raises Alarm, Doctor Warns
In another previous report, Dr. Tanya Kormeili, a board-certified dermatologist based in Santa Monica, cautioned against this type of piercing. "As a physician, I find it my duty to advise anyone against such aggressive piercings, especially for minors," she said.
She explained that the hands are frequently exposed to germs from surfaces such as doorknobs, food, and mobile devices. This concern is even greater in children, who may not consistently follow hygiene routines. "There are risks of infection associated with this type of piercing," Dr. Kormeili added.
Injuries — such as snagging the piercing — she said, could delay healing and increase the likelihood of complications. Infections in the area could also enter the bloodstream and affect vital organs.
Dr. Kormeili noted, "If you happen to have a heart condition, you are at risk of endocarditis [life-threatening infection of the heart's inner lining or valves.]"
Risk of Disease, Organ Failure, and Other Shocking Outcomes
Other possible outcomes include compartment syndrome, a condition that restricts blood flow and can lead to tissue damage, and the transmission of blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis C. Dr. Kormeili also cited toxic shock syndrome, a rare but life-threatening reaction to bacterial toxins that can result in fever, rash, and organ failure.
In light of these potential complications, Dr. Kormeili questioned the decision to allow such a piercing at North's age. "Given such risk, why would anyone do this, especially at the age of 12?"
North West's appearances have continued to generate strong reactions online, with social media users divided over her increasingly bold style choices. However, she has also made it clear that some of her more dramatic looks — including the darkened teeth — are temporary.
