The pop star's latest street style moment in Paris had followers split between pure admiration and comparisons to something you might spot in a bird sanctuary.

Jennifer Lopez was photographed leaving her hotel on Monday, July 6, 2026, for the opening day of Paris Fashion Week's Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2026/2027 season, wearing an ensemble that leaned heavily into texture and drama.

The look drew a flood of reactions once it hit social media, and not everyone landed on the same opinion about what exactly she resembled.

A Feathery Finish Takes Over The Streets Of Paris

Lopez chose a piece from Michael Kors' fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection for her Paris outing, a white jacket covered in short-sleeved, wispy plumage. She paired the statement top with a pair of black Bermuda shorts, which gave the otherwise dramatic look a cleaner, more tailored balance.

The "Office Romance" star rounded out the outfit with Giuseppe Zanotti cocktail mules and a quilted Chanel top-handle flap bag. She finished things off with a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses, keeping the rest of the styling relatively simple next to all that feather volume.

Jewelry was where Lopez really leaned into the occasion. She wore Cartier diamond earrings, a David Webb diamond cocktail ring, and a stack of Fope diamond pavé bracelets on one wrist.

Stylists Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi were behind the look, which landed somewhere between red carpet glamour and off-duty ease.

According to WWD, the Bermuda shorts detail also happened to be right on trend, with denim versions of the cut racking up more than three million TikTok views and a 191 percent jump in social interest among influencers, per Trendanalytics head of trend and editorial strategy Abigail Hoagberg.

A Surprise Companion During This Parisian Appearance

Lopez posted several images from the outing herself, captioning the Instagram post, "Les sœurs conquièrent Paris 🇫🇷 📸 @schiudio." This means "the sisters conquer Paris," which at first doesn't make sense until you click further into the carousel.

The singer had a rare companion for this outing: her sister, Lynda Lopez, who wore a chic, monochromatic three-piece cream suit featuring an oversized longline blazer, a matching button-up vest, and fluid wide-leg trousers.

She paired the tailored look with pointed-toe pumps, a structured mini top-handle bag, large square sunglasses, and layered gold necklaces.

Still, all netizens could see was the singer's outfit, and it did not take long for the comments to start rolling in, and the responses were far from unanimous.

Fans Weigh In With Wildly Different Takes

Reactions to the look ranged from glowing to downright confused. Under a separate Instagram post of the outfit, one person wrote, "Fashion week... what in the Big Bird is she wearing?!" while another kept it short with, "Big bird."

A Packed Couture Calendar Still To Come

Lopez's appearance came on day one of a packed schedule. Fall/Winter 2026 Haute Couture Week runs from July 6 to July 9, and features shows from 30 houses this season, up from 27 the previous year.

Among the most anticipated moments were Pierpaolo Piccioli's first couture show at Balenciaga and Duran Lantink's debut at Jean Paul Gaultier, both for July 8, followed by Maria Grazia Chiuri's first Fendi couture show in Rome on July 9.

Matthieu Blazy presented his second couture collection at Chanel on July 7, alongside Silvana Armani's Giorgio Armani Privé show that same day, according to Vogue.

Jonathan Anderson opened the week on July 6 with his second couture show at Dior, arriving with plenty of momentum after his wedding dress design for Taylor Swift generated widespread attention in the weeks prior.

Lopez was also part of Swift's wedding in an outfit that had netizens frowning. As previously reported, her choice of attire left many wedding purists completely flabbergasted.

She chose a dramatic, monochromatic black gown from designer Bach Mai. The drop-waist outfit featured a corset-style top made of rich, matte black velvet.

The skirt transitioned into a voluminous, structured bubble skirt with a high-shine finish. She shared images of the look on her Instagram feed with a simple champagne glass emoji caption.

She kept her hair minimalist, slicking it back into an updo with a black headband. Her look was finalized with a diamond statement necklace, a satin clutch, and platform heels.

Critics on a Page Six Facebook post immediately questioned her choice to wear black velvet in July. One user asked, "Who wears black velvet in July, especially during a heat wave?"

Others left sarcastic remarks like "Black for a summer wedding 😉" and "Going to a funeral??" Another person focused entirely on the fit, asking, "Why so tight on top?"

The critical feedback continued over on a People Magazine Facebook thread. A skeptical fan asked, "Is she trying to out shine the bride [sic]??"

Superstitions were also raised, with one user noting, "Bad luck to wear black to a wedding..." Another practical observer added, "Pretty dress but looks heavy & velvet. Not for a 'summer' wedding."

Whether causing a stir in summer velvet or dividing the internet with Michael Kors plumage, Lopez certainly knows how to command a conversation.

And while fans can't agree on whether she looked like a high-fashion icon or a chic bird sanctuary resident, no one can deny that her feathered Paris ensemble made an unforgettable mark on Haute Couture Week.
