Meghan was spotted in New York on what was meant to be a secret trip to bond with her friends and chill before the arrival of her royal baby. The 5-day trip consisted of visits to her favorite spots in the city. She was seen at Laduree, Café Boulud at the Surrey Hotel, The Met Breuer, The Polo Bar, and several times at the Mark Hotel, now famously known as the venue for her expensive baby shower.

Following American tradition, a baby shower is an intimate gathering of good friends bearing gifts and good wishes for the new mom-to-be and baby. The planners and hosts of the baby shower took it to a whole new level and pulled out all the stops for the Duchess and her baby due in the spring.

Details that brought the bill to a staggering $200,000 included a menu by Michelin-star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, pink roses for a floral arrangement lesson, cotton candy, dessert-tasting activity also led by the renowned chef, and the $75,000 per night penthouse at the Mark Hotel.

The private affair had a star-studded guest list beginning with hosts Serena Williams and Amal Clooney. While most were famous personalities, the group was made up of some of Meghan’s dearest friends, like Abigail Spencer, her “Suits” co-star, stylist Jessica Mulroney, designer Misha Nonoo, and her group from Northwestern.

Gayle King, also in attendance, was pressed for details on her show “CBS This Morning” and she first responded by saying,

"a good time was had by all."

She later added that she was most impressed by Meghan’s idea of sharing the flower arrangements they each made at the shower with a charity called Repeat Roses.

A sweet post shared by makeup artist and friend Daniel Martin showed pretty sugar cookies given away at the party.

All the extravagant arrangements were orchestrated perfectly to produce a party fit for a queen. It was reported that Serena took Meghan to dinner the night before to make sure she got everything right and for a long overdue catch-up. The two have been friends since 2010, counting on each other a lot, bonding through common woes, and supporting each other in their new roles as married women, and soon for Meghan...motherhood.
