Luke Perry's Daughter Shares a Frank Message to Her Mother after the Actor's Tragic Death
As people mourn the sudden death of Luke Perry, his daughter Sophie posted a message of appreciation to her mother.
On International Women’s Day 18-year-old Sophie posted throwback pictures along with a caption wherein she celebrated her parents and especially her mother.
In the tribute to her mum, Rachel “Minnie” Sharp, Sophie called herself lucky in the “parental department” and wanted to share how “lucky” she felt having had “two icons for parents.”
Being the one person Sophie needs now more than ever, Sophie is grateful to call her mother her best friend as cliche as it may sound. But Minnie “is the rock for everybody grieving in this family right now,” as sweet as she is, she is tough “and the most amazing woman” anyone could hope to meet.
Minnie holds the family together through this tough time, and Sophie couldn’t help but mention the admiration and love she felt for her mother.
Luke Perry and Minnie got married back in 1993 when Luke was at the height of his fame as Dylan McKay in “Beverly Hills: 90210.” From their decade of marriage came 21-year-old Jack and 18-year-old Sophie. After their divorce in 2003, Minnie and Luke shared custody.
Three days before the tribute to her mother, Sophie posted a message of appreciation as she thanked her father’s fans for their support over the past week.
Luke Perry died at the age of 52 on March 4 after he suffered a massive stroke. Sophie made it back from Malawi in time to be with her father during his last days and wrote:
“I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I.”
Her older brother and pro wrestler, Jack paid tribute to their dad in a post that ached with emotion. He spoke of the man that inspired and supported him in becoming the best version of himself, the man he learned so much from. The man Luke Perry, his father whom he will miss every day he walks “this earth.”
When Luke passed on March 4, family including Minnie, Jack, Sophie, and Luke’s fiance Wendy Madison Bauer were all by his side. Luke suffered a stroke less than a week earlier.
The late actor’s fiance Wendy spoke out for the first time on Saturday since the death of Luke Perry. In a statement to ET Wendy said:
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support. The countless, heartwarming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace during this difficult time. The past 11½ years with Luke were the happiest years of my life, and I am grateful to have had that time with him.”
Additionally, Wendy also wanted to thank Luke’s family and added:
“I also want to thank his children, family, and friends for their love and support. We have found comfort in one another and in the knowledge that our lives were touched by an extraordinary man. He will be dearly missed."
A close friend of Luke, Jason Priestley also paid tribute after he took a few days to deal with the initial shock of Luke’s death and to get to the point where he could write about Luke.
