Mia St. John, ex-wife to late "The Young and the Restless" star Kristoff St. John, has recently confessed that she lost 30 years of sobriety following his death.

Kristoff drew his last breath on February 3, 2019, just two weeks after mourning the loss of his son Julian, who took his own life back in 2014.

The revelation was made during an interview with People Magazine, in which Mia also discussed how she learned from the experience and grew as a person.

A MOMENT OF WEAKNESS

According to the 51-year-old, losing her husband was a very hard blow that led her to start drinking again, putting an end to three whole decades without touching alcohol.

Mia admitted that she felt ashamed, especially because she considered herself the "queen of mental health," as well as a mental health advocate.

"I felt as small as you can get. My ego was crushed. But I feel like I want to look at the bigger picture and my higher self. It’s about the good of all."

Succumbing to alcohol was disappointing, but made the former boxer realize that she is not perfect and that everyone has to find a way to pick themselves up and carry on living.

Now, Mia is working on improving herself, just like her ex-husband used to do, always trying to become a better version of himself. Their lives, however, completely changed after their son's death.

A DARK CHAPTER IN THEIR LIVES

At the age of 24, and suffering from schizophrenia, Julian reportedly took his own life inside a facility in Long Beach, California, causing his parents to experience pain like never before.

Mia shared that losing Julian may have taken a toll on Kristoff, who, unlike her, kept everything to himself, as if he had two separate lives that not many people knew about.

REUNITED AT LAST

The actor was found dead at his home in Woodland Hills and was laid to rest next to his son at the Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village on March 4.

The cause of death is yet to be revealed, with the circumstances being investigated by the proper authorities, but it has been reported that the actor may have passed due to an alcohol overdose.
