Luke Perry's Daughter Claps Back at People Who Criticized Her ‘Grieving Process’
Sophie Perry is pushing back against her critics after getting terrible remarks on social media for how she has coped with the loss.
The 18-year-old daughter of the late actor, Luke Perry, took to Instagram on March 11 to respond to backlash from the internet trolls who've taken issue with how she grieves.
Sophie took another hit at the trolls and told them that her dad wouldn't want her to sit and cry throughout the day in her room.
In her lengthy post, Sophie explained that following her dad's demise, she's got "a lot of attention online." While the majority of comments have been positive, a few people can't be decent.
"And I’m here to say that I did not ask for this attention, I did not ask to be thrown into some virtual spotlight, and while I don’t mean to offend anybody, I’m also not going to cater to (anyone) else’s needs and beliefs," she wrote.
Sophie went on to say that she's 18 years old and that she curses "like a sailor" and at times she dresses "like a hooker."
She proudly added: "And I support causes and you may not. And most importantly. I am going to laugh and smile and live my normal life."
Sophie then admitted that she was devastated after losing her dad.
"YES I am hurt and sad and crying and beside myself with what happened to my dad," she wrote. "It’s the worst thing to ever happen in my life. And I am torn the f*** up over it. But I’m not going to sit in my room and cry day in and day out until the internet has deemed it appropriate for me to do otherwise."
Sophie took another hit at the trolls and told them that her dad wouldn't want her to sit and cry throughout the day in her room.
She concluded: "So to those of you shaming me for my language and my wardrobe and most disgustingly, my grieving process, do us both the favor and just unfollow. It’s a waste of both of your time."
On February 27, her father, Luke, suffered a stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. The actor stayed under observation for five days. But on March 4, he passed away from complications at the age of 52.
Luke was best known for his role as Dylan McKay on the television series "Beverly Hills, 90210" from 1990 to 1995, and again from 1998 to 2000. He starred as Frederick "Fred" Andrews, Archie's father, on the CW series "Riverdale" from 2017 until his death.
