Outraged Mom Says Son, 8, Was Forced to Urinate in Trash Can in Front of Class & Wear Garbage Bags
A furious mom is taking action after she said her eight-year-old son was forced to urinate in a trash can and wear plastic garbage bags by his teacher at a South Los Angeles school.
Sonia Mongol, joined by civil rights activists and other supporters, addressed reporters last Thursday at a news conference outside Manhattan Place Elementary School, detailing the horrible treatment her son allegedly got from his teacher.

According to CBS LA, Mongol said that in November, her son was denied by his teacher when he asked to go to the restroom.
When the boy could no longer hold it in, the teacher gave him the option of urinating in a trash can at the front of the classroom and “exposing himself in front of all the other students.”
Mongol said her son urinated on himself in the process; he was eventually forced to sit in his urine-soaked clothes and made to wear two plastic trash bags to cover the clothes.

LOOKING FOR ANSWERS
The outraged mom claimed that her son had been continually teased and bullied over the incident since it happened. She also claimed her son asked to go to the bathroom recently and was denied again.
Mongol, community activists, parents, and supporters, marched to the school office seeking answers and demanding to speak with the principal, but the door was locked.
Mongol could not help getting emotional as she pondered why anyone would treat any child the way they did her son.
“Why would you make a child expose himself in front of the classroom and then put a garbage bag over him when he came to you for help? Why would you treat a child that way?” she asked. He’s a kid.”
FAULTING THE POLICY
She also called for a change in the school’s restroom policies, reports ABC7:
"New restroom laws need to be put into place. Children should be able to go to the restroom whenever they have to go. Our child did not deserve this; no child deserves to be treated this way. We are outraged, but this will be used not just to make conditions better for our child but for our children."
Mongol intends to appear before the L.A. Unified School District Board as her son’s principal has refused to respond to the allegations.
THE SCHOOL BOARD'S RESPONSE
In a released statement, the school district board assured that it is looking into the matter and cooperating with law enforcement in an investigation.
"Los Angeles Unified takes all matters concerning the safety and well-being of our students very seriously,” it read. “Upon learning about this allegation, law enforcement was notified immediately, and the District is fully cooperating in the investigation. The District will also conduct an administrative investigation. Due to confidentiality laws, we cannot offer further details at this time.”
According to ABC7, the teacher who had Mongol’s son wear plastic trash bags no longer works at the school. The outlet further reported on Monday that the boy’s parents announced a lawsuit against the District Board.
SIMILAR CASES
Like Mongol, any parent would be devastated to have their child treated terribly, and even worse when it comes from a teacher.
In December, another teacher was fired and sparked outrage on social media after she called a Native American teen “bloody Indian,” and only last month, a substitute teacher was banned in Missouri for making racist and threatening comments to black students.
