Emma and Richard got engaged in December 2016 and set their wedding date for August 1, 2019.

Shortly after Emma began planning her wedding and ordered a pair of shoes from Lace&love shoes, a brand she’s been in love with for years.

Unfortunately, her mother got diagnosed with terminal lung cancer shortly after and although Emma hoped her mother would live long enough to see her walk down the aisle, she sadly she passed away late in 2017.

It’s been hard for Emma planning her wedding without her mother, but this past weekend she received the shoes she ordered and made a touching discovery. Her late mother secretly paid for her shoes and had a surprise message written on the soles of the shoes.

The moment she saw the shoes, she loved them but its the message that made them perfect:

"Wanted you to have a gift from me on your wedding day. Your wedding shoes are my gift to you. Hope you have a magical day. Lots and lots of love and big hugs, MUM xxxx."

The 38-year-old bride didn’t know about her mother’s gift, her fiance Richard knew, but he kept it a surprise.

When she first opened the box she got perplexed, she saw the partial message on the one shoe and had no idea who it could be. As soon as she read the rest of the message emotions overwhelmed Emma, “I started to cry... I was just absolutely in bits. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk," she said.

Before her mother’s death, she started writing everyone in the family letters, but she died before she could write one to Emma, so the shoes are extra special to her.

Amanda Weise, who runs Lace&love knew that Emma’s mother had terminal cancer. After Emma ordered the shoes, her mother contacted Amanda to order the customization and arrange full payment for the shoes.

For Amanda it was “lovely” to be involved with such a touching gift, "It's probably the most emotional pair of shoes I'm ever going to make," Amanda said, "Hopefully it will give her a bit of comfort on the day. It will be like walking down the aisle with her mum."

Another bride made it to the altar before she received a special gift that left her and everyone at the wedding in tears.

Since she was a girl, she dreamt of her grandfather, Rev. Ronald Adkins officiating her wedding. When he died about a year before her wedding, she was devastated, but her family and husband-to-be did the next best thing.

Midway through the ceremony, the preacher asked that everyone bow their heads in prayer. Suddenly her grandfather's voice came over the loudspeakers as he prayed for everyone present and ended with pronouncing Brittany and her fiance as husband and wife.

When Brittany’s sister got married in 2015, a voice recording of the ceremony got made, and that is what got played over the speakers.

The moment she heard her grandfather’s words Brittany broke down in tears. “I immediately recognized his voice and started sobbing,” Brittany said. “Different emotions were racing through my head while trying to soak in hearing my grandpa’s voice. I was weak to my knees, chilled, but despite all the tears, I was smiling inside.”

Similarly, Andrea’s father died before he could walk her down the aisle, but her husband planned a touching surprise that went viral.
