According to "The Atlantic," actor and former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has spoken up against Trump for his rants.

After watching President Donald Trump continuously mock the late Senator John McCain, Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn’t stand by any longer. On Wednesday, the former Republican governor said the president’s attack on McCain was disgraceful and destructive.

Speaking about the late senator Schwarzenegger said:

“He was just an unbelievable person. So an attack on him is absolutely unacceptable if he’s alive or dead—but even twice as unacceptable since he passed away a few months ago. It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever to do that.”

The actor added:

“I just think it’s a shame that the president lets himself down to that kind of level. We will be lucky if everyone in Washington followed McCain’s example, because he represented courage.”

The former world-champion bodybuilder also mocked Trump’s 243-pound body saying, “I know he must be working out every day because he’s so unbelievably in shape.” Schwarzenegger urged the president to rather focus on infrastructure and immigration reform before he starts his morning workout.

Over the weekend, the president started his attack on McCain by sending out a series of tweets. On Saturday and Sunday, he berated the late senator for sending the Russia dossier, by Christopher Steele; an ex- British spy, to the FBI.

This week at the White House, while speaking to reporters, Trump also mocked McCain for casting the deciding vote that blocked his promised repeal of Obamacare. He even stated, “I was never a fan of John McCain and I never will be.”

On the same day that Schwarzenegger lashed out, the president was still attacking McCain. While at a manufacturing plant in Ohio Trump spoke about the dossier again.

“Mr. President, listen to the First Lady when she’s talking about stopping online bullying.”

He said, “What did he do? He didn’t call me. He turned it over to the FBI hoping to put me in jeopardy. That’s not the nicest thing to do.” The president reiterated that he had “never liked him (McCain) much. Hasn’t been for me. I really probably never will.”

Trump also bemoaned the fact that he’d approved the senator’s state funeral arrangements and “I gave him the kind of funeral that he wanted … but I didn’t get a thank you.” He wasn’t, however, invited to McCain’s funeral.

In turn, Schwarzenegger described McCain as “a hero.” He stated, “He was a great public servant, no two ways about that. He was known for his honesty, for his courage, and his patriotism and his service.”

The actor also encouraged the president to stop tweeting and focus on governing. He added, “The president should lift people up, should lift the nation up rather than always tearing people down.”

Referring to First Lady Melania Trump’s Be Best campaign aimed at anti-bullying, child welfare, and opioid use, Schwarzenegger said the president should consult his wife.

He said:

“Why don’t you go and sit down with your wife for just a few minutes, Mr. President, and listen to the First Lady when she’s talking about stopping online bullying. That is a really great message. Which way do we go? Your way, or her way. That’s really the question here.”

Schwarzenegger is currently working on a new “Terminator” film which will come out in the fall. Politically, he’s working on drawing fairer electoral districts.

On Monday, McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain appeared on “The View” where she lashed out at Trump for speaking ill of her later father. She said Trump "spends his weekend obsessing over great men" because "he will never be a great man."

The co-host of the show added, "My father was his kryptonite.”
