On February 9, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump, and his grandson Theodore Kushner attended Super Bowl LIX. While the president certainly made history with his appearance, it was Ivanka's hair that stole the spotlight, as many social media users flocked to Instagram to point out what appeared to be extensions.

In an Instagram video shared by the official account for the President of the United States (POTUS), Ivanka Trump was seen with her back turned toward the camera, as she clapped from the viewing stands alongside her father, who sported a classy suit and red tie.

Her signature blonde locks cascaded straight down her back with a sleek, polished finish. The hair was parted in the middle and its smooth texture was reflected by the bright stadium lights.

Complementing her chic white outfit, Ivanka's hairstyle added to her sophisticated yet effortless look as she cheered for the game.

The fitted two-piece ensemble cinched at the waist with a sleek brown belt complemented her statuesque frame. She accessorized with a gold cuff bracelet and gold earrings, adding a touch of glamour.

In one image, Theodore, who donned a cozy yet refined ensemble, was captured in a candid snapshot resting inside a vehicle.

The young Trump heir sported a forest green quarter-zip sweater and classic beige trousers. Seated in the sleek black interior of what appeared to be a presidential vehicle, he appeared sleeping, painting a charming picture of youthful serenity amid the day's events.

Other pictures shared by Ivanka showcased more familial moments such as Donald walking with Theodore as they made their way to their seats, Ivanka, her son, and the president saluting, and an adorable mother-son photo of Ivanka and Theodore.

Alongside her glimpses of their time at the Super Bowl, Ivanka captioned, "Super Bowl LIX ! 🇺🇸," much like the caption the POTUS account penned, minus the exclamation point and the American flag.

Upon seeing the video of Ivanka clapping alongside her dad, social media users wasted no time in asserting their opinions, especially where it concerned Ivanka's blonde locks. "Oh, girl, I see those extensions," observed an Instagrammer, while another chimed in with, "Major mistakes with her extensions .😮 😂."

A third spectator echoed, "What's wrong with the back of Ivanka's hair? Looks like her hair extensions are a fail!" A user added, "She needs her extensions fixed."

Ivanka's widely talked about appearance with her son and dad at the Super Bowl follows the initial confirmation that the president would be making an appearance at the game.

The occasion marked the first time a sitting U.S. president made an appearance at the Super Bowl, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, who ended up winning.

At the time, the US Secret Service had been actively preparing for Trump's upcoming visit, with heightened security measures set in place to ensure the safety of all attendees, players, and staff. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi emphasized that additional precautions had been implemented due to the historic nature of the visit.

In addition to attending the game, Donald participated in an interview with Fox News' Bret Baieras as part of the network's pre-game coverage.

The interview was recorded in Florida ahead of the event, maintaining the tradition of presidents sitting down with the network broadcasting the Super Bowl—though both Donald and his predecessor, Joe Biden, had not consistently followed this practice.

While the president had not publicly endorsed a Super Bowl team, he hinted at his admiration for a certain player. "I don't want to say, but there's a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner," he remarked when previously asked to predict the game's outcome, seemingly referencing Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Following Kansas City's AFC Championship victory, Donald took to social media to congratulate the team. "Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs," he posted.

He continued, "What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers. Likewise, congratulations to the Buffalo Bills on a tremendous season. They will do a lot of winning long into the future!!!"

When New Orleans was preparing to host Super Bowl 59, officials had reassured the public that there were no credible threats to the game or its surrounding events. The reassurance came nearly a month after a terrorist attack on Bourbon Street claimed 14 lives on January 1, 2025.

At a press briefing, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized the extensive security measures that were put in place.

"Right now we have no specific credible threats to this event ... which I think should give us all a sense of security," she stated. Noem also highlighted the importance of pre-deploying resources and strengthening partnerships to ensure the safety of attendees.

Similarly, NFL Chief of Security Cathy Lanier revealed that in the wake of the attack, the league had re-evaluated and reinforced its security plans. "We have reassessed and stress-tested our timing, our communication protocols, our contingency measures and our emergency response plans multiple times over, over the past several weeks," divulged Lanier.

More than 2,700 law enforcement personnel from state, federal, and local agencies were deployed to secure the event. The stadium had also been designated a "no-drone zone" to prevent unauthorized aerial activity.

"Secret Service has been on the ground for days, working in close collaboration with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners, as well as the NFL, to implement a comprehensive security plan," disclosed Guglielmi.

Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Eric DeLaune, a Louisiana native, led the federal coordination for the event, which had been classified as a SEAR 1 security event—the highest level.

"I have worked to coordinate the security of the land, air, and local waterways, with the vital support of our partners, leveraging a united front of all of those law enforcement entitles [sic]," stated DeLaune.

The attack site on Bourbon Street had also undergone security enhancements, including the restoration of protective bollards that were under repair at the time of the incident.

Noem, who visited the site, stressed the importance of learning from past events. "We have an opportunity to learn from what happened. The Super Bowl is the biggest Homeland Security event we do every single year," she said.
