Surprising Video That Exposes Patrick Swayze's Precious Hidden Talent of Singing
Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze was famous for his dance moves, but a video of him singing “Love Hurts” captures his musical side and beautiful singing voice.
The video taken in 1990, showed Swayze take to the stage with country singer Larry Gatlin. Together, the pair sang the song “Love Hurts” by Boudleaux Bryant at a tribute concert for Roy Orbison, to a crowd of cheering fans.
Patrick Swayze had a successful career as an actor with breakout roles in “The Outsiders” with teen idols C. Thomas Howell and Rob Lowe, “Uncommon Valor” with Gene Hackman, and the popular TV miniseries “North and South”.
But Swayze's best and most beloved role was as dance instructor Johnny Castle in the 1987 classic “Dirty Dancing”.
His co-star and leading lady, Jennifer Grey played Baby, and together they made iconic dance moves to the Academy Award-winning song, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”.
Swayze is also a singer and songwriter, and he wrote and sang the hit “She’s Like the Wind” which appeared on the “Dirty Dancing” movie soundtrack.
Grey and Swayze had sizzling chemistry in the movie which made fans go crazy about the pair. She often praised her co-star often calling him a “fearless dancer”. It was said that the famous scene where Baby leaps into the waiting arms of Johnny was unrehearsed, and it was quite amazing that they got it in one take.
But Grey confided that despite what it looked like on-screen, they felt like polar opposites in real life. She recalled,
“He came in (to test) along with a bunch of other guys. I didn’t think we had chemistry. But you either do, or you don’t. It’s a weird thing, though. It doesn’t have to do with whether you like someone or not. It’s just you either have it, or you don’t.”
