What Hoda Kotb Is Doing Now and When She Will Return to the ‘Today’ Show

Hoda Kotb on April 16, revealed that she and her boyfriend, Joel Schiffman have adopted a second daughter.

Ever since her announcement, pictures of the family and the new baby have flooded social media, and there seems to be a lot of well-wishers which also includes her fellow co-hosts on the ‘Today Show.’

The announcement happened during a very emotional on-air session on the ‘Today Show’ last Tuesday. Hoda was featured on the session through a phone call where she expressed the joy and emotions she feels having a new baby.

The phone call session left other co-hosts in their feelings, and it even made some cry. Kotb adopted her first daughter, Haley, in 2017 and when she was asked about Haley’s reaction to having a baby sister, she said:

“She literally walked up to her and looked at her and goes, ‘Hope, she was literally marching around saying, I’m a big sister,” the mother of two added.

She also went ahead to reveal that they named the baby ‘Hope Cathrine Kotb,’ saying that her middle name ‘Catherine’ is a tribute to her best friend who lost her husband to cancer recently and whose daughter is called Catherine.

It looks like fans of Hoda Kotb would have to patiently wait for her return to the morning show as she is now on maternity leave without a specific date of return.

But inferring from her previous maternity leave in 2017 when Haley Joy was adopted, she was off the show for about two months, and if she decides to take that long this time, it means she won‘t be returning to the show until around mid-June.

Pending the time Hoda would be out on leave, ‘NBC’ has revealed that Meredith Vieira would fill in for her and on some days when Meredith is not available, other co-hosts will fill into anchor the show.

It seems the ‘Today Show’ anchors have made dropping huge announcements a weekly habit. Jenna Bush Hager who recently joined the group of anchors also revealed on April 22 that she is expecting her third child.

The daughter of the former President revealed the gender of the baby to be a boy and also added that she is five and a half months gone.

We say a big congratulation to Hoda and Jenner while we await the show’s next episode hopefully there might be another “huge announcement” from the anchors.
