Toni Braxton's Niece Lauren, 24, Dead from Heart Condition

The Braxton family mourns the loss of 24-year-old Lauren Braxton, the singing sisters' niece. Lauren passed out in her mother's kitchen and was pronounced dead by paramedics who arrived shortly after. Her father, Michael Braxton reveals the cause of her death.

It’s a sad time for Toni Braxton and her family after learning the news of her niece’s passing. Lauren Braxton, the 24-year-old daughter of Toni’s only brother, Michael Conrad Braxton, Jr. died due to a heart condition.

Her friend had left her for only 10 minutes in the kitchen and when she returned Lauren was out. She was pronounced dead by paramedics who arrived shortly after.

DETAILS SURROUNDING YOUNG BRAXTON'S DEATH

On Monday, law enforcement received a 911 call claiming Lauren was unresponsive. In a police report obtained by TMZ, it was revealed Toni’s niece was with a friend when she was discovered unresponsive on the kitchen floor in her mother’s home in Maryland. Her friend had left her for only 10 minutes in the kitchen and when she returned Lauren was out. She was pronounced dead by paramedics who arrived shortly after.

Michael revealed LoLo, as his daughter was fondly called, had a heart condition suspected to be the cause of her death. He did not go into detail about the illness. Father and daughter were very close as evident on Lauren’s Instagram. She once wrote he was “the best man in the world.”

Lauren was also reportedly close to her cousin, Kevin, Jr., Traci Braxton’s son. Traci expressed her grief to TMZ by saying, "LoLo was more than my niece, she was my daughter; and I, my son and husband are truly heartbroken over her passing."

Meanwhile, Trina Braxton commemorated Lauren’s death by celebrating another angel in her midst in a post.

"God sent me another angel! Rest in Heaven Lauren "LoLo" Braxton."

It was only a few months back when Trina, who was recently engaged, lost her ex-husband, Gabe Solis after secretly battling cancer. Today, her family mourns once again and a rep has told ET, they're requesting for privacy during this sad time.

"We ask that you please respect the Braxton family's privacy in this time of sadness and loss," the statement read.

Meanwhile, Toni has shared a pain-filled message addressed to her "amazing niece."

"I'm still in disbelief and so very heartbroken. Love you...always auntie "Te Te."

A BROTHER GRIEVES HIS LOSS

Lauren’s father is younger than Toni and older than the rest of his sisters. He’s also a singer and songwriter and has appeared several times in his family’s show, “Braxton Family Values.” Michael has a son, Kahnrad, who is currently having difficulty coming to terms with his sister’s demise. In a heartfelt message on his private account and recounted by Madame Noire, he expressed his sadness over what he describes as “a nightmare.”

“This doesn’t feel like reality, it feels like a nightmare that I can’t wake up from,” he wrote.

“I cannot simply put into words how I currently feel. When mom told me you were unconscious, I didn’t want to call her back because I was too afraid to know. I never knew you were depressed, I never knew you struggled with anything. You always put a smile on your face, and put others before yourself. I wish I could tell you I love you one last time. I’ve never felt a loss like this and my heart is eternally broken.”

Kahnrad ended his message by vowing to “live my life for you and I.”

“Fly high my beautiful, angelic sister,” he concludes.

Lauren was days shy of her birthday at the time of her death. Our warmest sympathies are with her family at this trying time. May she rest in peace.
