Marie Osmond Pays a Touching Birthday Tribute to Her Late Son 9 Years after His Suicide

Marie Osmond posted on her Instagram account some moving photographs of her late son who would have turned 28 years old on May 4.

The country music star shared a heart-touching image of her son at three different ages with all her fans and captioned the picture with a short but powerful message of love and affection: “My Michael, Happy Birthday. I love you my son... tell Grandma Happy Birthday too. Till we meet again.”

Osmond's life became a little emptier in 2010 when she sadly lost her beloved son, Michael, after the 18-year-old jumped out of the window of his college dorm and ended his life. But the star has been able to heal the pain and share her experience.

The singer of "Read My Lips" was devastated by the news and one of the ways in which she could express her pain was through a song she sang on stage in honor of her son's death. Now, Osmond returned to sing the same song but this time in honor of the death of her dear friend Kim Goodwin.

#Easter has always had such great meaning but especially when we have lost loved ones. I sang this song the other night @FlamingoVegas. My friend recorded it and I am posting because it has great meaning to me. I sang this same song on this same stage for my son Michael when he passed away, and I sang it once again Wednesday night for my dear friend/brother Kimmy who passed away last Sunday. Kim’s mother Miko was able to come to the show and sit in the audience that night. Because I know how hard it is to lose a child, I hoped it would bring her some comfort and joy knowing how much we all loved her Kimmy. Go to my Facebook page to watch the full video. While I was introducing the song, I said, “The most important part of this song is knowing I will see him again”. This peace and knowledge comes from the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ. Because today is Easter, my Sunday message is “He has risen!” Those 3 words are so powerful and especially comforting when we lose a loved one during this mortal existence. The “Good News” is the peace that comes from knowing we will see them again! I have infinite gratitude for the miracle that Christ arose from the tomb, and I know because of this great miracle we will ALL rise after death and be reunited again with those we love. This #EasterSunday let us listen more intently as He calls us by name inviting us to heal through His infinite atonement. And may we always recognize and accept the glorious peace He offers. Happy Sunday, and Happy Easter! #SundayMessage #HeIsRisen

The death of Kim deeply affected everyone who knew him, but no one more than his mother, Miko. That’s why Marie announced that she wanted to sing a "very special song" in honor of Kim during her show on the Flamingo Resort in Las Vegas.

"The last time that I sang this I lost my son," Marie explained while trying to stay calmed: "Tonight, I would like to sing it one more time because there is a very special person in the audience tonight, and that is Kim Goodwin’s mom, Miko. We love you, Miko."

Because Marie knows pretty well the pain and sorrow that a mother can feel after losing a child and how hard it is to get back on your feet, so she hoped that singing the song could bring Miko some comfort by knowing how much he was loved.

“The last time that I sang this I lost my son. Tonight, I would like to sing it one more time because there is a very special person in the audience tonight, and that is Kim Goodwin’s mom, Miko. We love you, Miko.”

Osmond, who rose to fame as a country singer in the 70s and 80s, is also the mother of seven other children - Stephen, 36, Jessica, 31, Rachael, 29, Brandon, 22, Brianna, 21, Matthew, 19, and Abigail, 16.

The singer takes advantage of any opportune occasion that comes to share with her family and especially with her grandchildren who are the greatest satisfaction of her life.

She recently revealed to the Daily Mail that she hopes to celebrate Mothers' Day with all of them. "I have to have my grandkids with me, okay? I have four and two on the way, so I'm super excited," she said.

I absolutely love this picture, look at my sweet husband and darling grandkids, and now we have two more on the way! It’s so thrilling but I have to be honest with you, when I looked at this picture I thought, “where has time gone? Wasn’t it yesterday these sweet little ones were my own children?” I’m so thrilled my kids are married to wonderful people and have started families of their own, there’s no greater joy on earth... But... Where did the time go? Time is something we talk about ALL THE TIME! For instance: Do you have time? What time is it? Let’s make time. I don’t have time right now. Time is of the essence. It’s time to go! It’s about time! Time’s up! There’s more... but what I do know about time is God gave ALL of us the same amount of minutes in every hour. Those minutes are the same no matter if you’re at work, cleaning the house or sitting through a movie... but they can sure feel different, don’t they? I certainly can’t slow time down (believe me I’ve wished for it) but I can do things that will make my time more meaningful... and I want to stress this as strongly as I can, you do not have to do huge things to have meaningful experiences with other people! There were many times the Savior changed someone’s life just by giving people a “moment” of His time. He was never in a hurry when it came to ministering to people. His apostles sometimes tried to keep him moving on to the next place but the Savior knew something very important about time... it was His to give. He could offer people very little in the way of material things, but he did have time, and He gave it freely!
