Robin Roberts Mourns a Member of the 'Good Morning America' Family
Robin Roberts is devastated after her friend and the member of “Good Morning America” family Angela Marie Morreale passed away. The host took to social media to share the heartbreaking news.
Roberts posted a photo of herself and Morreale on her Instagram account to mourn the loss of her beloved friend.
“Our hearts are heavy this morn...a beloved member of our @goodmorningamerica family Angela Marie Morreale passed away over the weekend,” she wrote.
Continuing her post, she went on to describe Morreale as a “force of nature” who kept a “watchful eye” over the members of “Good Morning America” for over two decades as stage manager.
“She was feisty but also quick to laugh and smile. Angie was relentless as she bravely faced cancer over the years. Though the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped and prayed for.. her journey was every bit as meaningful and powerful. Honoring Angie’s determination and spirit...my #MondayMotivation,” Roberts concluded.
Roberts, who began her career as a sports reporter, will receive the Sager String awards at the 2019 NBA Awards which will be held on the 24th of June.
NBA hosts Ernie Johnson Jr., Charles Barkley, and Shaquille O’Neal announced the news to Roberts during one of the episodes of GMA.
Roberts is a breast cancer survivor who also battled a rare blood and bone marrow disease. Her friend, reporter Craig Sager, lost the battle with cancer in 2016 and the award is named after him.
Sharing how honored she feels to receive an award bearing Sager’s name, she said it “means so much” to her.
Recalling how Sager said that time is how you live your life, the former sports reporter reminisced how she and Sager were inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame in the same year.
“I’m looking forward to being out there,” an emotional Roberts said.
