Meghan Markle's Baby Archie Is a Carbon Copy of Her as a Newborn
Prince Harry and Meghan proudly showed off their new bundle of joy and not only is little Archie “absolutely to die for” but he looks just like his mum, for now.
Meghan gave birth to a 7lb 3oz Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor early on Monday morning, and fans got their first glimpse of the new royal on Wednesday.
“Today The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share their first public moment as a family,” the caption read to the first pictures the royal couple posted to their Instagram account taken at Windsor castle.
Meghan and Prince Harry met with the press for their first public appearance with Archie to introduce him to the world. While comfortably cradled in Prince Harry’s arms, only Archie’s face could be seen clearly, and the cutie seemed to inherit his mum’s little button nose.
However, the new parents haven’t made up their minds as to whom Archie most resembles as Meghan said, "We're still trying to figure that out." To which Prince Harry added:
"Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks. We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows."
Prince Harry and Meghan beamed with pride as they showed off a bit more of Archie’s face on request from reporters. "He's already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful," Prince Harry joked.
The Duchess also gushed about their experience as new parents so far. "It's magic; it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world, so I'm really happy," she said. "He has the sweetest temperament; he's really calm."
After the official introduction, netizens flooded social media with comments regarding the big announcement.
The name the royal couple chose drew the most attention, as some thought it to be a strong name for the new royal:
But many couldn’t help but think of Archie Bunker, the famous comic book character as one user wrote:
And for those who wonder what the meaning behind the names are, the general netizen consensus concluded that Harrison translates into “son of Harry” while Archie is the shortened version of Archibald, meaning “truly brave” and from German/Scottish descent.
Many are delighted that the long-awaited moment in meeting Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby finally arrived.
During Meghan Markle’s pregnancy, netizens debated and looked for clues which might give any additional information, as the royal couple decided to keep most of the details private.
But, as it turned out, one fan correctly predicted Meghan’s due date shortly after Meghan and Prince Harry announced they were expecting in October last year.
