Marie Osmond to Host ‘The Talk’: Disappointed Fans Call Her ‘Too Plastic’
Since its inception in 2010, “The Talk” has risen to become a top-rated daytime program. Fans look forward to the tenth season which is slated to start in just a few months. With the known host, actress Sara Gilbert resigning, it hit the media that “Paper Roses” singer, Marie Osmond will be her replacement.
Overjoyed, Osmond took to Twitter to share the news on May 7. She wrote:
“It’s official – I’ve been asked to join the ladies of @TheTalkCBS starting in September & I couldn’t be more excited!!! Can’t wait to spend my weekdays with you. #TheTalk @CBS.”
“The Talk” via their Twitter handle also welcomed the newest addition to their team. Fans have rebuffed the choice to bring Marie Osmond on, and in defense of their choice, Angelica McDaniel, the executive wife president for CBS Entertainment said:
"If you've seen Marie Osmond guest host on The Talk over the past nine seasons, you know she's the perfect addition to the show.”
She went on saying:
“Marie's impressive career accomplishments have endeared her to fans throughout the decades. Her willingness to be authentic and share personal triumphs and struggles with honesty in the hopes of helping others always resonates. I'm excited to kick off season 10 with the multi-talented, dynamic Marie at The Talk table."
Despite McDaniel’s lengthy statement, fans continue to object to Osmond hosting the show with many finding Carnie Wilson, a loyal guest host, a better fit for the seat.
Osmond’s appearance on the talk show doesn't measure up to Wilson's, and this has incited avid followers of “The Talk.” Netizens did nothing to hide their disappointment and took to Twitter to bash the decision.
One @onlychristsang1 wrote:
“Omg...who chooses Marie Osmond? She's going to be traveling a lot as a Co-host...Carnie Wilson would've been the best pick! -_-#NotGoingToWork @TheTalkCBS #TheTalk.”
Another fan, @Btchnotme expressed high suspicions tweeting:
“Hmmm...Marie Osmond. So Carnie Wilson just keeps getting passed over for that cohost seat huh? She’s basically been a permanent fill in since the 1st season, but they just won’t pull the trigger. And doesn’t it seem like they’re announcing this super early? #TheTalk.”
The sharp reproval is still ongoing, but Marie Osmond doesn't seem to have a care. Just recently, Daily Mail reported that the 59-year-old grandmother is looking forward to mother's day which is just about the corner!
