Old Man Amazed Doctor with His Health Condition

Seniors at the doctors seem to give us the most to laugh about for their very unexpected answers to serious medical questions. The story below is one such example of a senior getting the best of his doctor.

One day, an older fellow went in for a checkup.

After his examination, his doctor was amazed. "Holy cow! Mr. Edwards, I must say that you are in the greatest shape of any 64-year-old I have ever examined!"

"Did I say I was 64?"

"Well, no, did I read your chart wrong?"

"Damn straight you did! I'm 85!"

"85!! Unbelievable! You would be in great shape if you were 25! How old was your father when he died?"

"Did I say he was dead?"

"You mean..."

"Damn straight! He's 106 and going strong!"

"My Lord! What a healthy family you must come from! How long did your grandfather live?"

"Did I say he was dead?"

"No! You can't mean..."

"Damn straight! He's 126, and getting married next week!"

"126! Truly amazing, Mr. Edwards. But gee, I wouldn't think a man would want to get married at that age!"

"Did I say he 'wanted' to get married?..."

Mr. Edwards has a good point! Did this tickle your funny bones? Share it with your friends and give them a laugh too.

Longevity sounds unreal until one considers that there is a 104-year-old man living in Devon, England, named Frederick Vinecombe and that Spaniard Francisco Nunez Olivera died last year at 113.

Sarah Knauss of the USA died in 1999 at the age of 119 years and 97 days, and a Russian Shepherd, Appaz Iliev, who claimed to have been born under the last Tzar, has just died at an estimated 123.

Queen Elizabeth is currently a spry 93, and reportedly attends more events and functions than any other member of the royal family.

So what is the secret to long life? According to Nunez Olivera, the key was a very healthy diet of home-grown vegetables plus a glass of red wine on a daily basis.

Vinecombe says he worked until he was eighty, doesn't take any medication, and according to his daughter, has never been hospitalized and still has all of his own teeth.

His tip for defeating the Angel of Death for so long also boils down to staying out of trouble and eating healthily. He says:

"We always had green stuff, the food was really good, nothing half cooked. She [his wife] didn’t seem to fry much, we had a good roast Sundays, and Monday we had a nice dinner.”

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
